I can tell u from experience that the Grand Sport is hands down the best one to buy. Bought mine new over 10yrs ago and still luv it to this day. The C7 or C8 just don’t have the classy looks or timeless design of this car. No problems or issues with this car since new. Once u find the right one & drive it it’ll seal the deal and u will buy it. Good luck….

I've been driving a 2011 JSB Grand Sport Coupe six-speed for a decade. Put about 50K miles on it during that time. It's been as reliable as my 2002 C5, which was incredibly reliable. Never had any issues outside of regular maintenance, parts aren't cheap (but cheaper than, say, owning a Porsche, MB or Jag). Since you do your own work you won't mind changing out the 20 brake pads (I did it after Hendrick quoted close to $2K).
The JSB color is just amazing. It's showcar paint, with a lot of metal flake in it. I've had people ask me if it was aftermarket paint because it's so amazing in the sun. I've got the factory silver fender hash stripes on mine, and I think they look bada**, but there's always debate about them.
It's reasonably comfortable, but to be clear, it's a track car that you drive on the street. And yes, I've driven 10 hour stints and it was fine, and it's a soft ride compared to, say, an Elise or an Alfa 4C. For me, it's a great compromise for a sports car (mine is not mag ride). And like others have noted, you have to be very careful with speed bumps, potholes, parking curbs, steep driveways, or stacks of more than 6 credit cards.
I use the hatch for my bicycle. Take one wheel off, and it fits right in. I know you are set on a convertible, but a coupe does have a removable roof, and you might find one for less. And loads of room in the back - golf clubs and weekend bags would be no problem.
This is my last week owning it, and I'll miss it (as I've written elsewhere).
