I've managed to not get into any accidents for about 5 years now, which is saying something if anyone is familiar with the history of my car, but this morning some old fart decided he wanted to make a right turn from the left turn lane, and clipped my rear quarter panel and bumper as I was right next to him when he made the idiotic move. Luckily for me, I installed a new dash cam a few weeks ago, and the entire thing was caught on front and rear video, which I was able to show to the cops who arrived on scene to take the report. I've already filed a claim with his insurance, but now comes the long wait for them to accept responsibility so I can get my car fixed. Nobody was hurt, which is fortunate; I'm just pissed that this happened. We were the only two vehicles within a mile, yet he still managed to hit me.
And here you can very clearly see the imprint of the impact on his bumper.
Glad you are OK. I experienced a similar incident when my previous husband who was diagnosed w/ brain cancer was being driven by his idiotic brother in law back from eating dinner. The brother in law drove my husband's Lexus, and missed our driveway, so made a right turn at the corner, and immediately swung around in a U turn from the right lane and took out the entire rear bumper from a pickup truck that went straight on the green (the brother in law made an illegal right turn on red w/o stopping, natch, and just decided since he'd missed the driveway he'll just do a quick U-ey). That was not a great day.
What dashcam did you install? Was the rear captured from inside the car or from a rear facing bumper camera?
It's a Kenwood DRV-A610WDP front/rear dashcam. The rear is captured from the inside of the car. The rear camera is mounted just above my rear-view mirror, and catches a great image through the small vert window. That camera just paid for itself.
Just be happy you weren't hurt, but tomorrow will tell after shock of any injury. The car looks repairable, make there insurance give you loaner even if you don't need it.
Sorry to hear, that sucks. I think it's the red paint, it just seems to draw attention....for the wrong reasons. I'm sure it will be better than ever soon and you'll be back on the road.
I'm sure the Old Fart didn't see you, even though his turn sounds ridiculous & illegal. I'm usually a bit anxious and on High Alert when driving my 2010, so I try to avoid being in anyone's blind spot, and always drive with my Morimoto DRLs on to draw attention to my low car. My hand is also ready to blast the horn if anyone attempts to turn in front of me or blindly cut me off. Glad your left rear wheel wasn't also damaged.

You were right. My back and neck are feeling the impact today.
Has anyone in AZ heard of or used Bromley's Corvettes? It's a full mechanic/body/upholstery/restoration shop in Chandler. I'm considering using them to do the do the repairs, and possibly some other work as well if they have a good rep. They've been in business for 25 years.
I've hired an attorney. Now for the very, very long wait.
I've been in a couple situations like this when the other party is clearly 100% at fault. As long as this is captured in the police report you should be fine. In my experience, no lawyer is required and the wait is not very long to get the car repairs approved.
Now if you have a personal injury claim - that's a separate and very very complicated and potentially time consuming matter.
