I agree with you that Big Brother isn't right, etc...

However, I hardly think that OnStar give the police to "beat you up and search your homes for contraband anytime they want."

Warranty? Yeah, I car about Warranty on my daily driver. Then again, I don't do spirited driving in an SUV nor do I take it to the track. Warranty on a C6??? I'm the one that wants GM to give me credit for the base warranty period. :D So, no, a car that I'm going to beat the living poopie out of, I don't expect warranty! I break it because I plaid hard with it, I will fix it by myself or pay to get it fixed. :p

Were you one of those kids that broke a toy and then blamed it on the kid nearest you? :)

You want to play and play hard???? DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE FREE!

Back to Onstar...

BTW, $2000 option eh???

And the black boxes hooked up to the airbags are purely for research purposes.........
Considering that they only monitor vehicular systems and do not transmit data, yes.

Yes but take 1 pass down the track and 1 year later the tranny fails and because of the 1 track pass you are now screwed. especially with that nice transaxle design.

OK so 1600 something I rounded up

So? People have been convicted because of skid marks on the road. Does that mean that cars without ABS are monitoring you and invading your privacy?

I could floor it on the street and the tranny could drop out the bottom of the car! What's your point? I'm going to deny that I floored it to drive the car hard?

"Umm, yeah Mr. Service manager, I don't know what happened, my foot went to the floor and then the next thing I knew the tranny fell out. Can I please get another for free?"

Of course this country is built on people who want everything for FREE to them, so I guess I see your point also.

I was just pointing out that they arent only for insurance accident statistic research purposes like they are toted as.

The black box is pretty irrelevant compared to some of the other things out there. Like onstar and hte GPS tracking that is in some of the newer cellphones like mine.

That isnt even the point. The point is that the warranty is voided even for damage not related to the trip to the race track. You are getting pretty ridiculous on this one.

But that is their primary purpose. Just like the primary purpose of a kitchen knife is to cut food, but it makes a handy weapon as well. Should kitchen knives be banned?

Indeed. But there are significant differences in the various technologies. The black box is "evidence" not "monitoring." BIIIIIG difference. Likewise a GPS phone still isn't as bad as OnStar in terms of abusive potential. There is a reason why Cell Phones are banned in secure facilities. A remote hijacking signal can be sent to use the phone to listen in on conversations.

 Scissors.

I'm trying to figure out whether you assume to much about my skills (or lack of) or if you are a techno weanie who is just ignornant of his own technology.

Either way, more power to you and I'm done or I'll have a 18,000+ post count soon...

Runge - Sorry about all this off topic junk. Sometimes I get amused by people superior to me (Scissors) and I get carried away. :)

Damage being the key word Guru!

Warranty is for to cover items are manufacturered or assembled with a defect.

Should warranty replace a windshield that a rock cracked? So why would you expect warranty to replace a tranny that blew up coming from most likely a modded engine that is producing way more power?

What I'm saying is, that I mod my cars and drive them hard. I do not expect warranty to cover anything that may be DAMAGED as a result of this. I'm not going to put all the stock parts back on and take it to the dealer and then plead ignorance to get a new engine or tranny for FREE.

If I'm driving down the street in my daily driver and the tranny falls out with only 5K on it, then you bet it did so because of a DEFECT.

And the trannies in my silverado have tendency to fail. Should 1 pass at a track void that?

You cant win. because you are wrong.

What would it prove if I posted exactly who and where you were on a public forum? You can make any translation you like, this is a forum and means nothing to living life. Well, maybe except for the fact that I wasted the last 2 hours on this stupidity... DOH

You take your Silverado to the track and it's a stock truck????

If YOUR vehicles have a "tendency" to have failing transmissions consistantly, then I'm willing to bet that 9 out of 10 times it is the user who is the issue. ;)

Why do you keep a truck that has consistant tranny issues? Have you tried the Lemon Law?

No its a common reported problem with silverados. -- Mine has yet to fail

and you spent 1 and 17 minutes arguing whether or not big brother is good or not.

I know where I am posting from, and I know where scissors is posting from, and I seriously doubt you can tell me where I am.

It would prove that you can use the forum's search function, since both are listed in the archives.

But, please, if a computer is as big a risk as OnStar, then list where I was posting from earlier, post a video of me in that place, and post an audio file of what I was saying to others. I bet you can't.
