Re: How many will/would get navigation? (RichieRich)
I'm curious. Exactly what car that is a competitor to the Corvette did you buy WITH navigation?
Porsche 911.
Not quite what I would call a true competitor at nearly twice the price. :nonod:
Porsche only wishes it could deliver what Corvette does at the same price. ;)

Where else are you going to find Vette performance in that price range? Duh, it's a more expensive vehicle. The performance of the 911 is very similar to that of the Vette. Therefore, its in the same category.
If you want to use price as your category, you could name several cars at half the price that have navigation systems as options. Which way do you want to slice it?
It's about time GM added a navigation system as an option. If you don't want it, don't select that box.

Oh, and I certainly agree with you on the Porsche comment - my hope is that the C6 will continue to approach (and eventually exceed as the Vette continues to evolve) Porsche fit and finish and quality of materials but at C5/C6 prices. And at the same time continue to match or beat it in performance!
I expect the C6 to advance the cause in this regard - better fit and finish and materials, but while offering superior performance compared to anything in its price category.
I say no, because:: you look at the first nav systems in the mercedes and they look dated and lame now in my opinion. They are cool now but with the technology now days and how fast it moves it wouldn't be a good choice. In ten years it will be obselete and you will have a big hole in your dash or have to replace it with something.
The car itself will be outdated in 10years. In that case why get a dog it will be dead in 10 years anyway?
Re: How many will/would get navigation? (RichieRich)
Absolutely. Yes, I will get Nav. I intend on exploring many new places in the C6. Funny you mentioned how much you'd like it in your truck. The truck marketing people still don't get it. Truck people probably need it more than most because trucks are usually work related vehicles, meaning you're going to new customer locations all the time. At least there are some nice aftermarket systems finally showing up now.
This new vette is going to rack up some mega miles on road trips. The nav will be very useful.
From: HOPE is the first step on the road to disappointment.
Re: How many will/would get navigation? (Rippied Z06)
Never had a problem finding where I wanted to go with a map. Sure don't need puter help for directions. I find it curious that some would find this helpful or desirable in a Vette.
I agree with the guy with the slow silver car. :D Sorry Ron.
Re: How many will/would get navigation? (Timmy's C5)
Anybody know what it is going to cost? And can music CD's be played when the Nav is in use?
We can guess based on other GM cars it will be under $2K, but on other cars (like the CTS and Buiks) you need to get a convenience group along with it that in the Caddy cost...... hold on to your hat...... are you sitting down?..... $9000
And yes you will be able to play CDs at the same time
The biggest problem with nav is the cost Vs the real usefulness of the thing. Given that a lot of cities are not documented well it can give a lot of wrong answers including telling you to turn left when a right turn is required. I visit cities all over the country and just drive into them and find where I am going after a quick look at the map before I start driving. Given the accuracy of some of the directions I have seen in cars equipped with a nav system (not the nav system's fault but the fault of whoever put the data together) you just may want On Star available so you can call and have them send somebody to find you.

Re: How many will/would get navigation? (RichieRich)
I voted no, but having said that, if I found my perfect C6 on the lot, and it had it, I might buy the car... But not for the nav. That's what happened with the HUD in my '02. Didn't want it, but found one that had it, so...
I can't diss anyone who wants it. The fact you love Corvettes and are on this board means you're all fine people! Personally, however, I've never wanted one... Even in the family hauler. I would never want one in something like my Corvette. I've done three 4000 mile road trips across two C5's. A good sense of direction, a little pre-trip help from DeLorme and mapquest, and the hope that I find something I wasn't looking for (which I did) made them truly memorable.
And if I can't play six CD's while I use it!? Hey, the C6 CD player is supposed to play MP3's. I could load up several days of road tunes! Give me the open road and good tunes. I don't need no stinking Nav!!!
