You are making me feel bad, I have ordered the Precision red, and I will stick to it because it looks great in the magazines. I hope it is just a matter of personal taste. I read in one of your posts that you didn't like the torch red either?
Have either of you guys seen the Precision Red in person?
There are some great pics on this forum of a Torch Red C5 and a Precision Red C6 side-by-side that showed me everything I needed to see. The Precision Red is just dull and boring compared to Torch Red in my eyes. It's not an "arrest me red" which is almost a crime for a Corvette. Some say that Torch Red is too orange(which I don't find to be true), but at least it stands out which is something Precision Red does not do. Just my opinion on the subject and I'm sure that many will disagree with my assessment. To each his own.
From: Muncie, Indiana ...... Can I buy an amplifier on time ... I ani't got no money now but I'll pay you before I die
Re: Precision Red (TedG)
Not trying to make you feel bad just being honest but at the Birthday Bash I did not hear many positive comments about Precision Red. Yes I was glad to see Torch Red go but I think they made a mistake with Precision Red. I would just like to see a nice bright pure red.
Well I hope it is not boring in my eyes, and if the magazines are any indication (at least they have good photos) I should be happy. I mean mag red looks ok in a magazine and looks great in person. Maybe just because I have it ordered and I want a red corvette this time I have convinced myself I will like it.
TedG, keep that same order don't listen to Bmadden he just stays in these precision red posts and talks all negative about P red because he has torch orange which was ugly enough for gm to ditch it and he's inferior.....go with what you like I perfer P red over torch orange anyday I also like mag/dark red.

Wow, I didn't know they let 10 year olds post on this forum. If you want to get into personal attacks, wildman, be sure to ask for your mommy's permission before you play with the big boys. You've been warned!
I try to refrain from saying bad things about others choice of stuff on their Vettes, lest I have that exact same thing. Especially in the personal taste department. In reality I am really liking the Precision red. If the car came in torch red I would have been happy. If they were both offered I would have to lean toward the Precision Red. I really didn't notice it being too dark until someone said something.

FWIW. I had a Mil Yellow on order. But I called my dealer and changed it to Precision Red after reading this thread.
I think it looks way better than the orange/red color of the C5. It's a worldclass color worthy which wouldn't look out of place running among the Ferraris, Porsches, Lambos.
BTW, I am hoping the GM paint is not as soft as German. I have 3 996 in the last 5 years, all Artic Silver. The german paint is so soft that you have to use lamb wool mint and rinse with TWO bucket of waters after every wipe. Otherwise, the tiniest particles in the mint will cause noticable swirl marks. It's really difficult not to have noticable swirl marks in dark german paint.
Paul, I have a new Black Silverado SS, and the paint on that is not bad. I wash the crap out of it. A lot of times I just rinse it off and wipe it with a chamois. The swirl marks are there but nothing a good coat of Zaino doesn't seem to fix. And thanks for the words of encouragement, I truly believe the precision red was a good choice. Now I am looking at every red car or truck and try to do a mental comparison.
I was just looking at the February Road and Track and if that is any indication of what the precision red looks like I am completely sold. That red is really red. Just beautiful. The pictures in there have a great view of the rear with a C5 sitting next to it. I had forgotten I had that magazine and really hadn't had much of a chance to look at it. Side by side the C6 really shows it's stuff. I can't wait till mine comes in.
"What they should do is replace the metalic red with the precision RED while keeping the TORCH RED also. That way everyone will be happy. "
Not everyone infact more would be upset theres a lot os mag red and 90-95 dark red lovers these 2 colors are basicly the same check my sig which that pic wasn't out in the sunlight.
