[Z06] GPS-verified 200 MPH in Z06 on Autobahn

Great run.
To be honest I recall the article where they went into the whole accuracy of the VBox and why they were switching to it referencing some change in the accuracy allowed by the government in the last 5 years. They cited that change as being the reason that GPS was now viable as a measuring device for performance testing where previously it wasn't. I don't know enough about GPS' evolution in the private sector to speak on it with any reliability so will just leave it at that. I also didn't want to hijack this poor guys thread any more of that stunning run in his car. That video is breathtaking, frightening, but breathtaking.
Could you imagine doing that in the US where some old lady 'road blocks' the left lane as soon as she gets on the freeway because she feels its her right to do so. I think that might have been what stunned me the most about about it after I watched it a number of times. How incredibly dangerous that would be to do with the respect/skill/attention level of the average american driver. /shudder

This video taken from a car going about 95 MPH. I don't know which run this was, but I was going at least 180+ MPH...

Very cool! How did you feel the 5th gear acceleration was? I find that 1-4 is brutal, but once I shift into 5th the acceleration slows down drastically. Is there any speed where it starts to pick up again? Maybe as the RPM's climb higher it starts to pull hard again?

I hit 190....and I agree 100%. It will be the first and last time. The car felt stable but my pants didn't.

Gotchya. Thanks a lot. I'm always afraid to use 5th gear because I don't want to get pulled so I usually just run all the way up to the top of 4th and shut down at 5th. Guess I need some spray to fix that

It really is like doing anything wild for the first time your not really sure of all the details but you defiantly know what just happened I was not the same for about 2-3 hrs afterwards. I was coming out between two big mountains down a slight grade (no hill) but it is about 800' of elevation, it was 39 dagrees out & sunny I will have some video this spring, as of now I only have one eye witness, but I just got a new Sony Handy Cam!

I so hope to be able to fix the 5th gear issue with some 4.10's but I really don't know if or how that would make any changes on the top speed.

In my experience at the US speed limit , GPS reads 2-3% higher than calibrated speed. This is because GPS uses a great circle calculation of distance, which is larger than the distance you travel over the ground. Since r=d/t, and since GPS distance is greater, r or rate is apparently greater.
