What stereo do you have in it now?
I have a Nav, and went with an iPod adapter cable from Sonic Electronics. A local guy (forum name Pentavolvo) spliced it into the outputs from the XM module with a relay and a switch so I can decide where I want to listen to iPod or XM. Crude, but simple and effective. All functions are controlled through the iPod.
I tried one of the fancier ones that let you control through the NAV display, but like many people had seen, this kept my electronics "awake" all the time and would kill the batteryin 36-48 hours. I recommend staying away from there.
Also, ask over in the electronics section - they have plenty of expertise over there.

There is a long thread over in electronics. One OP actually has an incredibly good pdf on how to install the PXAMG unit, complete with pictures.
If you have the NAV unit, you can hookup your iPOD through an add-in device. I have the Peripheral Technologies PXAMG unit that allows the iPOD to run through the XM Radio. This unit is great because you can control all song selections by album, artist, genre, or playlist either through the XM touchscreen or through the iPOD itself. It does NOT drain the battery and it also has a direct hookup for an HD radio tuner that also is controlled through the XM touchscreen. It also has 2 AUX inputs for other electronic devices. Finally, it also charges your iPOD through the included cable that can be run just about anywhere. There are other devices but not as full functioned as this one.
If you do not have the NAV unit, then simply use your AUX-OUT jack on your radio for a quick connect. If you want charge and input, then you need to look at a similar add-in third party product.
GM has promised a PAL link to an iPOD for ages and has not delivered yet. I would not wait around.
