Default Z06 427 heads

My son has my 2008 Z and wants to have the heads done. It has approximately 12k miles with no issues to date. Dose anyone have a good guess how much it will cost?

There are lots of options for "fixed" heads from a basic valve guide replacement & reusing the other parts to a full guide/valve/rocker/ replacement & porting option. I suggest that you do your homework & look into the aftermarket vendors such as WCCH, Frankenstein, American Heritage Performance, etc for all of your options

It cost me a little under 2g for everything including fluids etc....I went with AHP package 4 heads and did the job myself.

Depends on what getting heads "done" entails, and whether he can R&R the heads himself. Labor is more $$$ than parts/machining in most cases. If he can R&R the heads himself, I'd say roughly $2,000-$3,000, depending on what parts are reusable.......

How close are you to Tony Mamo? I would be giving him a call if I lived in Kalifornia

If I lived in California, I'd mechanically repair and do nothing more. This is in consideration of their seemingly 'floating' emissions policies/laws. Personally, Id be afraid to touch my car if I lived there. My .02...

Meh, I tend to thumb my nose at stuff like this. I’m sure I would come up with some workaround and do what I want. Screw their emissions. I can assure you that it isn’t the few high performance vehicles ruining the environment. Big business, industrial waste, Chinese inefficiency with emissions in production……..there are plenty of whales to go after before trying to trap a few microscopic minnows driving corvettes.

I’d do what I want and take my chances………..what am I saying………I wouldn’t live in Kalifornia if someone gave me a free house and a job making 300k / year. I’m not kidding either.

I hear you on that!! My good friend lived there for almost 40 years before he finally had enough, and moved next door to Arizona. Problem is in the tune. My understanding is any tune thats not OEM to the vehicle fails the test, period. Sure, there's "bigger fish", but this is an area they have total control over, so they do it.
