Heat with Procharger and "unknown" tune...
Picked up an '06 Z51 with a Procharger, bigger injectors and a custom tune (I'm told the ECM was sent to ATI to be "cooked"). Now I have an issue with it heating up, but not overheating. The highest I've seen is 235, but it didn't "overheat". Is this normal? Also, the car was lowered in the front so I think that maybe not enough air is able to get in/out to transfer that extra heat. Anyone got ideas?

Try these 2 links. You may have have a problem with the car being lowered and not enough air being forced into the engine by the bottom.

The computer would of been sent to Ed Wright at Fast Chips to have a tune installed. ATI has Ed Wright install the tunes for them on the LS2 Corvettes and GTO's. ED is probably the most knowledgeable tuner is the states, and was the first one I know of who cracked the LS2 tuning, long before any of the manufacturers had software developed for it.
235 is hot, although these cars to run hot. I'd first replace the thermostat with a cooler one, if it already does not have a cooler one in it. We typically install 160 degree thermostats in these cars. You also want the radiator fans to come on sooner, which is done through retuning the computer. Your dealership can verify when the fans are coming on, just don't let them reflash the computer back to stock!
You can either take your Corvette to a shop that tunes these cars, or send the computer back to Ed Wright if the fans come on at too high of a temp. Bob

Thanks Bob... I cut a little bit off of the top of the air dam to allow for a bit more flow so it's running a little bit cooler. I guess I'll have to figure something out before too long though. I think 217 isn't all that bad of a temperature...

217 really isn't too bad. These cars are designed to run hot. Bob

have you tried moving the bottom of the intercooler out makeing room for air to get thru tothe rad without going thru intercooler first? this will help alot.

I've seen oil temps up to 245 in the summer with my procharger. Sometimes I see temps in 220's in the winter depending if I am pushing the car. Now that i have 4.10 gears in the car my oil temps are running even higher. This is with big bollas intercooler mod...

i am running below 200 most the time. i believe in part because of my hood being open in the front helping out some. if you look at say the sts intercooler they mount to the front crossbar of the frame not the rad support leaving the gap in the bottom u get when u do the bollas mod.

Here is from a thread I did a while back....
Your car is running NORMAL!!!!!! I am so sick of hearing people think that their car is over heating. You are in the 100% normal operational temperatures.
Factory LOW SPEED FAN comes on at 226 off at 219
Factory HIGH SPEED FAN comes on at 235 off at 226
IF the AC is on, and the temp is over 185.
The LOW SPEED fan will not come on if car is over 35 mph
Factory Thermostat is 195
Anything from 180-220 is pretty normal.
200-210 on an average hot day.
This is the operational temperature that GM designed for this motor.
GM does not consider the motor to be over heating until 256 has been reached.
Lots of tuners (I know ECS for a fact) include a 160 thermostat in their supercharger kits.
I would assume they are also commanding the fans to come on sooner.
So thus they will run a bit cooler because they are massively modifying the factory cooling system specs.
Is that really needed? Who knows, cooler usually means better but though since I don't work for GM, I can't tell you why they wanted these motors running so hot. I have been told by a couple of sources, that one of the reasons the motors run hot, is to make it have lower emissions. Since the LSx is a LEM, that would make sense.
Things you can do that are simple to lower the temp if you really want to.
1) Have your tuner turn the fans on earlier then the factory specs
2) Put in a lower degree thermostat

It is, dare I say impossible, to run lower than 192 on an LS2 unless you are at speed. The factory fan tables start at 192 so the earliest you can command any fan to come on is 192. Now with a 160 or 180 t-stat you can get lower at speed with plenty of air flowing through the radiator. 235 is a little high for my taste but given the 192 hard limit its hard to get much lower without having one or both fans running constantly.
I can't say I agree with EA's #'s for stock fans. Those are the values for the LS1/6. The LS2 fan table is odd to say the least. It's not just temps for on and off for low and high, I wish it were that simple. The LS2 defines percentages of fan speed for different coolant temps.

Here is the stock '05 C6 fan table and the one that I have never exceeded 200 degrees with on my 160 t-stat (although I'm not blown).
