Default Been a while...

I was out of touch (on the daily anyway) for a month or so now, as I had major back surgery to correct some disk issues brought on by a car accident about 4 years ago...

Everything went extremely well, and I'm back to about 85%, and feel like a new man! An absolute tiger as a matter of fact...

Bottom line here is that I wanted to share thanks with everyone who helped out with the issues I had in installing the new Z06 trans & diff.

I finally had a chance yesterday to take my baby out for a ride... All I can say fellas, is that this car is the shiznasty! The new gearing combined with the blower and the other mods have mad this a scary fast, loud as hell, rocking at the stop light, poop in your pants, hold on to your azz BEAST, that I could not be happier with. You could offer me a brand new ZR1 as an even trade, and I would respectfully decline.

I have never in my life been more happy with anything that I've driven. I mean guys, this car runs a very close second tho the joy and happiness that I get from my wife and kids! After returning home yesterday, you couldn't have taken the smile off of my face with a jack-hammer I was so happy with the performance.

I would like to thank all of you, my corvette brothers and sisters for all of the help and insight, and assisting me on my way to pure HP bliss. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!

This forum is filled with people in the know. Guys who have passion for their rides, and are willing to share with everyone to make dreams come true.

Again, thank you my brothers & sisters, I couldn't have done it without you (and a few bucks).

Welcome back, glad you are feeling better. I know how you feel about the gear ratio upgrade...I just switched to 3.42s in my A6 (580 whp/513 wtq). The change is great. I'm in the process of doing the Spin Monster traction solution with 18" wheels on the rear. Make sure you have traction for that beast.

That, my friend, is what it is all about! Welcome back, I'm happy to hear you are making a full recovery! Keep enjoying the car: I know I can't wait to get mine back on the road too!

That is one of the final issues I'm pondering daily... When the RPM's spin over 6k, the rear tires break loose. It's a bit scary, no in fact, it's absolutely terrifying. Problem is that I spent HUGE $'s on a set of GFG Trembo's back when I bought the car. They are 19x10 fronts, and 20x13 rears. I run PS2's, and they just can't handle the boost at close to red-line.

I really wish that I could get a set of R-compound tires to fit the rears. I'd pay almost anything for them, seriously. I love the look of the rims for sure, but they really aren't that functional at this point.

Any suggestions?

I know what you mean... I had to choose between some really nice black chrome Z06 wheels in 19x11" sizes for the rear (stock size in front) and staying with my stock style and doing the widening of 18" wheels for the better tires in back. I decided on moving down to the 18" for traction since I would feel pretty bad having spent $$$ to add power but then have the car get sideways into a wall or something.

I know Nitto makes the NT05R (315 is widest size) and NT555R (305 is widest size) in 20" size.

Yeah, they are too tall though... You'd need a really skinny sidewall and those are 35 or 40 series if memory serves me right...

I'd just bite the bullet and go to a 19 or an 18" wheel...
