Default ABS sensor damage

I recently took my 2007 Z06 to Munday Chevrolet in Houston, Tx to check out the ABS warning light which was staying on.

Found out the right rear sensor was damaged and had to be replaced with the hub as a unit. Cost was $600 parts and labor. I inquired about the warranty, they said it wasn't covered.

Anyone disagree? Should it be covered under my 5 yr 100,000 term. Car has 17k miles

Thanks in advance.

JD

I would want them to show me the old parts and convince me why I have to pay out of pocket. If they say it's from road damage and not a failed part then I would file with my insurance that I hit a bad pothole and took the vette in for repairs. Only if you deductible is low enough that you actually save some money.

You do have to replace the entire hub bearing assembly. You can buy a brand new one for $184.95 from corvettewheelbearings.com . It is held on by 3 bolts: consider swapping it out yourself to save money.
I can't comment on if it should be covered by warranty; if it was "damaged" as they claim, then the answer is no of course, insurance covers damage, warranty is for parts that fail for no reason. If it failed for no appearent reason I'd definitely expect the warranty to cover it!

Also why is this in the Forced Induction / Nitrous forum? Did your sensor break as a result of forced induction?

your 5 year 100,000 mile warranty is for drivetrain only, I believe the rest of the vehicle is standard 3/36,000. So maybe its not covered simply because your warranty is up.
