Default More boost down low?

I'm afraid the answer is NO but will ask any way. I have the A&A kit on my LS3 and would like to make more power down low (like 3000rpm). Is this possible with the Vortech head unit?

I was watching my boost guage tonight as I was flogging my car. The supercharger makes absolutely no boost until about 4500 rpms then it works up slooooowwwwly until max peak of 8 at or near redline.

Yes, it shreds the tires at the top end but I would like more on the bottom. Help?

Although boost curve of a centri is best described as exponential, you sure gauge is working correctly, no leaks… those hind of things…

No boost until 4500 rpms doesn't sound right.

Only hitting 8psi at peak doesn't sound right either unless you're running a very large pulley (4.0).

I'd take a couple hours and go through the system to check that no clamp has come loose at all. It wouldn't take much of a leak to lose enough boost where you wouldn't see it until the SC was really spinning up.

If you put a smaller pulley on the head unit (3.2" or 3.4") and use a restrictor plate to limit the boost up top, you'll gain more low-end boost

Should be making boost from 2k up. Is the belt tight enough?

You can run a smaller pulley and make more boost down low. My car made 500ft/lbs at 3k. More than enough to blow the tires off anywhere under 75mph at any rpm.

Should be building boost from at least 2500. Agree with others on checking for boost leaks. What blow off valve do you have?

Will check for leaks. Andy, I have the blowoff valve that came with the kit. Is it a known issue?

We've used Vortech's race valve, and Turbosmart. Follow the vacuum hose going from the valve to the nylon "Y" fitting near the brake booster. Make sure it's not pinched somewhere.

I ran the 3.6 pulley, and now run a 3.125 pulley. 3.6 will pick up a ton of power in the car over the 4.0. Also, a meth kit is not a bad idea even if you don't use it for power. I picked up like 70ftlbs of torque with my alky control kit.

I don't want to do Meth... sounds too complicated. Trying to keep it simple. Just a retune for the smaller pulley? I'll call my original installer and see what he thinks... Steve at ETMC, you out there??

For comparison sake, my car never hit a lick of boost below 3800 rpms.. Then about 4000 it would jump to 4 psi, from then on it was a gradual build eventually hitting 10-11 psi at 6500.. The car made 622rwhp with a bone stock engine(even the cam) so there was no boost leaks... I just attributed this to the nature of centrifugal blowers. I had a 4.38" pulley on a d1sc. I was pretty disappointed with the lack of boost down low and more so about the boost drop after shifts. In 1st and 2nd I didn't need the boost down below 4k but 3rd/4th/5th needed more boost terribly below 4k.

I am going to a 3.4" pulley on the new build so hopefully that wakes it up a bit down low and hopefully not drop below 9-10psi after shifts..

It is...when I ordered my A&A kit I specified 3.8" pulley for the LS2/LS3 and got a 4.0 on it.

If I hadn't known to look for it I would've been running with less boost/hp than I wanted.

Pulley down and use a wastegate setup to bleed off boost if you are content with the top end power.
