I believe m5 has more additives and is not pure meth while m1 is almost 100% pure and doesn't have any addiditves... not sure what the addidives do but my guess would be to help with corrosion resistance since meth is so strong... most would probably use m1 and to be honest I don't think it really matters all that much since we use it as a secondary fuel and not a primary fuel... I just get generic meth from a local race shop, it has worked great and is less expensive (around $3 a gallon in my area)... some hobby stores may carry it too... the only issue taking the restrictor plate out will cause is more boost and more power
Except for one point of concern. Be very careful not to run anything with even traces of petroleum. Some places recycle containers used for petroleum products. It will kill the life of the diaphragm of the meth pump. Cuts the life from 3 years to less than a year.
Know what you are using!
Thanks Doug, I just dropped the car off to the tuner today (Granite State Dyno & Tune). They originally told me that they were booked until the 1st week of November but when I mentioned Malcolm's name (my installer), they told me they would do it this week because they are good friends with him. I have to leave it there for a few days and they will squeeze me in between jobs. I thought that was pretty cool of them to do that! I can't wait to see what she pulls on the dyno!!
Unreal, if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any. My car was dropped off at the tuner Monday and they did me a favor by squeezing me in for tuning as they are booked out until Nov. My car was getting it's baseline tune and in between pulls when my shifter cable snaps leaving it parked on their dyno. WTF! They ordered a new one and fixed it the following day but then he left to fly. The tuner also works as a pilot and one week a month he's is in the air, flying clients in a private jet. I got the car back partially tuned for the time being so I can drive it (it's my daily driver) and have to wait another week until he returns back home. Then I drop it off Monday and he will squeeze me in his already tight schedule. Ugh. Only a few weeks left of nice weather and I'm in limp mode until next week. All I want to do is thrash!!
Well she's finally finished! I pick her up in the AM! Here's the video the tuner posted. End result: 600rwhp and 550 rwtq. Wondering what that translates to at the crank??
Great! You must be happy and anxious to drive it, I want to read about your first impressions as mine is being done with next Tuesday as the delivery date.
Can you ask what wot timing ended up at when you pick it up?
Will do! I wanted to hit at least 600 but was really shooting for 650 but hey, beggars can't be chosers, there is only one dyno shop in my area. The other one is close to 2 hrs away. The rest are 4-6 hrs away.
