...it still amazes me that something like this doesn't just go right up in flames.

Went with FIC2150's. They'll hold up fine with proper maintenance. Thank you though.

I'm sure he will do a decent job, but you may not be surprised to see how many do go up in flames. I know several top mount cars that cook seals, get a leaking valve cover, leaks oil onto the header wrap, and then burns the car down. Not a fun situation.

Welp, a long time since I've updated here. Everything in the engine bay is back together, just been having hydraulic problems as of late. When I got the car back together, I ended up getting a leak from my McLeod throw out bearing. So, the entire rear end had to come out of the car again. As it was an older style, I decided to just replace it with their "new and improved" version. Originally, I ordered their C6 version and it was too short so had to return it to Summit and order their C6z06 version that has more adjustment (c6 was their fixed style while the z06 is adjustable; which makes no sense to me considering both use the same height throw out from the factory, but anyway). Even with the c6z06 style however, I could not get the clearance to be within their tolerance so I reached out to McLeod, who verified that my measurements, and gave me the green light to install.

Ended up putting it in the car and reassembling the rear end again. Tried to bleed the throw out per their instructions and it kept on getting air in the system; somehow, even though I wasn't getting leaks anywhere. Spoke to McLeod again and they recommended sending the unit back so they can test it on their bench.

At this point, I was just beyond frustrated, especially with more than a month had elapsed, so I yanked the entire clutch out and replaced with a Mantic 9000 triple. Dropped the rear end for the 4th time and installed about 95% yesterday. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it up because the pressure plate cover nuts weren't included (always my luck it seems). Spoke to Alex at ECS though and they are sending me out some today --so hopefully it is just smooth sailing from here.

Anyway, here's some Mantic ****.

1 clutch, multiple rebuilds, multiple throw out bearings. At this point, I just want something that works.

Yeah, seems they either work or don't... I dunno why they have so many issues on Corvettes, they seem to work better on Camaro's. Maybe the tolerances on the torque tube leave more variance?

I dunno.

Either way, Mantic should just plain work

That's what I'm hoping for.

Hopefully the nuts come by this weekend. Then I can get everything back together and FINALLY get the car started after a year of being down. Get some break in miles on everything and get it dynoed. Just in time to move it to the new house and store it for the winter... :'(

Should be able to grab the nuts at any hardware store worse case. That way it isn't such a kick in the nuts for you timeline.

Yeah, I spoke with Mantic. For anyone's reference, they are m8x1.25 grade 10 nuts.

Just wanted to make sure they weren't anything stupid.

I was not happy with my Mcleod either but I'm sure you'll really like the Mantic. engagement for street driving on mine is way nicer too.

Those turbos look killer in the engine bay. Can't wait to see it finished.
