awesome. super interested to hear your thoughts. surprised they did not provide you with any dwell tables. I'd assume for optimal performance will require different dwell tables vs. stock
also what is the second hot wire off your alternator going to? fuel pump or something?
After looking at valve covers, probably just keep the holley, and cut the stands off and recoat them. Far cheaper than $500-1000 for a set of valve covers.
Would be nice if holley made a smooth set without the coil mounts, but ohh well.
Will the brackets not fit or something ? Or why the need to change covers ?
One coil is in the middle of alternator, other coil goes right into brake booster. So have to mount them higher or remotely. Proform coil mounts look like they would work but then need their valve covers to attach them too, or find a way to cut/hack/weld/mount on the holleys. New valve covers aren't 100% needed but maybe easier than all the modifications to fit.
I have the Proforms...but their bracket setup is a bit crap, and as mentioned the oil fill cap is **** too, although I welded a screw on tower/cap to it.
You already have some mounting posts...form a small bracket from some aluminium that bolts to this row and extends above the rocker cover towards the fuel rail, then make coil mounts off that
Only issue there is the leads wont be long enough.
I've no idea why I cant find any photos...but on one side of the car the coils are mounted as described ( albeit with a bracket bolted to the proform cover directly ) with 4 coils mounted flat and side by side.
On my drivers side I didnt have room to mount them flat so ended up mounting the coils upright ( ie thin side/side ) on a small frame with some long bolts and alloy spacers between them. A little more awkward, but takes up less room.
Coils still always pointing with 5 pin plug at rails and spark outlet towards the exhaust if that makes sense
