YES, there is almost no point to just add 3 degrees IMO. I do at least 8 degrees. E85 is a very amazing fuel. Almost can't make it detonate.

That would explain why nothing exploded on mine when I accidentally added an extra 6* on top of normal mild'ish E85 timing, so low 20's @ WOT

Do you have a rule of thumb for power gain per degree of timing at certain power levels?

Not saying I would leave it that high.. but I did it once on accident, and it didn't break anything... that's just a [fortunate!] fact

On meth I don't add more than 2 or 3. At least 6 on e85.

On ethanol you can usually just tune to MBT timing (Maximum Brake Torque) without running into detonation. So use a dyno and turn the timing up until it stops gaining or starts to lose power. Unless you have a pretty wild setup, you shouldn't run into detonation before reaching MBT. I have ~10.25 CR and run 15psi with a ZR1 blower and MBT on E98 was 24* if I remember correctly. It has the same on E85, just use the E98 for when I am really beating on it and spraying all the nitrous. Timing is pulled for the nitrous though. Think 3-4* per 100hp can't remember. Sometimes tuning to MBT isn't always the best way to go though, for example when you are really pushing the stock bottom end stuff.

Is there any value in running the meth along with E85?

Current set up is forged LS7, ECS-1500 with Meth on pump.
Im adding a Fore fuel system and Flex sensor to run E85. Should I leave the Alky kit on and just dial it back a bit or remove it and just run the E85? I figured Id just dial it back sense its already on the car. But If its just pointless and just adds another variable then I can just remove it.

I have thought the same thing, but I am leaving the meth on mine. I don't know how scarce e85 is going to be, so I am sure I will be running 93 most of the time.

Sure,

In case of running out of injectors, you can always add meth.

It is of course another variable, but if you don't trust meth kit, why did you install it anyway?

So all in all; it depends what fuel injectors you have now. And how reliable you want to have your particular combination. I myself do not trust meth systems, unless tested and serviced each spring.

Meth cools intake charge. I know local car made 1046 on e98, then added meth and made 1164 with no other changes. No added timing in tune, nothing but meth added. It did run more timing because of no IAT retard because of the intake cooling.

But.. does it really matter on e85? Not saying it doesn't, just curious. Lot of guys on yellow bullet running e85 with no intercooler making stupid amounts of power, though a lot on different platforms so not sure it's comparable

Wonder if it would have done about the same with same actual timing

I run both right now

Now, young man, just pick a stock E85 tune from those GM vechiles that are E85 capable. You know where the repository is, right? :-)

Do they still have IAT spark reduction based on how hot the air is?

If so, why?

Spraying meth does of course lower intake temps.

And add fuel.

Which all leads us to a tuning strategy. I.e. how to deal with E85 and meth injection in various situations.
