How far can you go with 93oct and no meth.
Looking for experience on the limits of 93oct.
Currently the setup for my 05 ls2 is:
Stock motor/cams
Kooks Long tube headers O/R X pipe with Corsa sports exhaust
A&A kit V2 T trim w/3.8 pulley and factory crank pulley (installed 3 months ago.)
The car put down 545whp @ 10psi with 3.8 pulley on a mustang dyno, the tuner held back a little up top because the injectors were at 98% which is a bit close for comfort.
I am considering a full FORE flex fuel kit this spring to get more fuel on pump gas and also to run E85. At the same time I am considering dropping down to a 3.6 since it would be pretty cheap and i'm re-tuning anyway. My major concern is how safe would it be going from a 3.8 to a 3.6 pulley on 93oct and no meth. Granted, I would plan to run E85 most of the time but in the event I am driving around on 93oct I don't want to be on the ragged edge. Thanks!

I think that Josh from A&A posted that the general rule is 600rwhp max on 93 pump gas and then up to 700rwhp with meth/or e85. You can push the stock bottom end further but just be advised of the increased risk.

93 / no meth I'd try to keep it around 600rwhp mark max, should be OK there if tune is decent
E85 you can pretty much max out that blower and still be fine, it's awesome stuff. You'll bend rods before breaking pistons as long as you can avoid knock
In general 700-750rwhp is "reliable" sweet spot if you're running enough meth and/or E85. Plenty to beat most stuff on the street but still reliable on a stock bottom end car.
Obviously that's well above what these engines were designed for so it's not 100% bulletproof but a lot of people have done it for a long time. Above that it gets expensive fast.

~600, and even then a bit risky.
I would keep it where you are at until you can do flex fuel. No reason to take the risk.

I had mine at 640 on 93 before I added meth.

600rwhp on pump gas only
700rwhp with meth or E85 to raise the octane
Yes several guys get away with more, but a few guys have a failure with less.

650 on pump plus meth, and you have a 137-138 mph car in full street trim, no drags etc. push it a bit further and you have a 140/+ car with a drag setup. I personally hate a vette with skinnies and bigs, I always ran my cars the way they saw hill country highways at 160+.

I made 545 on a mustang dyno which I heard can read a little on the low side, do you think a 3.6 pulley would be pushing the envelope for pump 93oct and no meth?

Detonation isn't just the knock and then boom, pistons show signs of damage before getting destroyed. Get yourself a cheap borescope and look for small pin pops on the piston tops and black specks on the plugs. Back it down on any signs of that.
Luckily I saved my bottom end when trying to push it past 780hp /w 15+psi on 93+ meth and it seems happy at 740hp/14psi/12*/.82 Fun car to drive, easy on parts, and consistently in the low 10s.

I would say the right tune makes a lot of difference. Dyno numbers are going to vary quite a bit also which further complicates the comparisons. Patrick G tuned my setup on a Mustang dyno with just 93 and then we went back and added meth for safety and the car made 730. Same setup, same tune makes right at 800 on a Dynojet. The Mustang is probably a little stingy and the Dynojet a little generous. My engine is stock bottom end with 58k and has held up for 2 1/2 years so far with this setup. I admit that I don't beat on it.

I don't know right now, like I said we're having issues with the power right now. When I was on pump/meth I had a custom nitrous cam in there that played decently with boost on 16*
but yea that's why I swapped it, supposed to be really good blower cam. People making 900+ on sbe ls6 motors and ysi
