Obviously you have never talked or PM'd Subfloor before. He is always willing to help people including myself make on what mods actually work because he has actually done them. I too often see people speculate what will work and what will not work, and they have never even tried it. Lucky for me I was able to learn from Subfloors mistakes and sucess.

Thanks for telling it like it is Christopher!

Man, I feel for you. Thats why yesterday I was gonna get my car tune after I installed the supercharger from Andy. I drove 45 minutes to the shop (a sponsor on here) and realize I needed to ask if they lock their tune. After finding out that they do, I turned around and go home.

I've had the pleasure of many conversations with Christopher, and I will have to admit that he has been one of the first to really push the A6's all on his own, going through many changes in parts due to breaking things, and the endless pursuit of going faster. He is definitely an intelligent individual, who was a quick learner when it cam to tuning his own car, and somebody I have a lot of respect for.

I don’t think he has a problem with tuners, just dishonest statements made by some of them. Christopher (thesubfloor) is a stand up guy that tells it like it is. He does not like to see people spend hard earned money on false statements or someones computer getting owned by a tuner. We should be thankful to have honest people on here expressing real world experiences.

You can get a brand new PCM for under $300. If the guy used LS2 edit, you maybe able to reflash it with a GM cal and start all over, and I do mean maybe. I had a 57 Belair in my shop with a E38 PCM with a cal that a tuner that supplied the harness and PCM flashed with LS2 Edit, it inadvertently locked the tune and the guy that used it didn't even know it. It seemed that the turds that designed LS2 Edit designed in this auto locking mechanism into the software. There was a later release that corrected this issue, but you had to jump through some hoops to fix the problem with the early release. I ended up flashing the PCM with my TECH2 using a fresh GM cal, that worked, but because of the LS2 locking mechanism, I still wasn't able to upload to the PCM with HP tuners! I was able to read it but wasn't able to program with HPT, I was royally PO'd! I now stock new PCMs in my shop for this very problem.

As a policy I never lock anyones PCM, anyone that does is an idiot especially if they don't advise the customer. Besides that even if they do, the tune can be extracted by those that know how, and let me tell you I have yet to see anything so good that it was worth my time to do it.

This thread is NOT about Christopher.

Show some class and get back on topic. One of your fellow members has a problem with his car.

Any more of this tuner war will get some people a vacation.

You might get ahold of carputing, designers of LS2 Edit, and see what they have to say about getting access to your PCM. Most of the time, unless you have the password, your are SOL in accessing a locked PCM.

There is no "master code" the tuner software changes the security seed in the PCM, once that is done, even a dealers TECH2 can't change it, basically you are SOL.

Yes it does suck I hate it when I have to tell a customer that he needs to purchase a new PCM from me, and then I have to explain why.

You need to go over to Icon Autosports...as Floyd already mentioned one of MTI's tuners now works for Mike over there. Mike has formed some form of partnership with MTI so your best bet would be to call Mike @ Icon autosports.

You need to track down Jayson. He did all MTI's tuning and ask for the passcode. They use HP Tuners.

Technically MTI is not out of business, they changed business directions from aftermarket tuner shop to high end car sales. Maybe give them a call and ask if they can still help or at least lead you to someone who can help.

Hope you get it figured out. If you do have to buy a ECM it does not stop there. You will still have to pay to have a stock calibration file burned to the ECM with vitals like VIN, Mileage, etc.
