Default P0606 Code & Reduced Power Mode

P0606 (forgot the 6 in the original title). So a few months back I'm driving along in 5th gear at about 50mph and the car goes into reduced power mode. Got it started again after maybe 5 minutes or so and it got me to my destination and back home. Checked the code and it was P0606. Only drive it on weekends, but the problem went away and I've driven it weekend since. Now a few months later (on a weekday of course), I'm on my way to get coffee after taking the day off and boom, happens again. This time it's P0606 again as well. Is it definitely the ECM/PCM? Could it be the battery or some other fluke thing that might cause that? Thanks for your input guys.

Do you have mods to the engine? Increased airflow can cause this. there are some threshold tables that should me increased or maxed out in the tune to avoid this.

My 08 shoots P0606 occasionally when starting. The PCM is not passing a self check and goes into limp mode. I clear the code and start the car and it is fine, the battery and grounds are all solid. It has done it with a 1000 CCA jump pack in the loop so it is not amperage, it does it when it is cold, hot, been driven etc etc. The only things we can think of is that the PCM itself is just going south.

It is a pretty inexpensive part, we are replacing mine with a 2013 PCM. DSX Tuning offers this service as I am sure other do as well, from what I hear the newer PCM is nicer to tune on...
