When I picked up my car (C6), it had the front plate holder installed. I told the dealer I woun't but the car with the holder in place. (Sales guy said it was a federal law, ha ha). I didn't budge. The service guy came up, I told him I wanted him to pull it off so he'd damage the paint if it happened.
He pulled HARD, with his foot against the car, it came off, he removed the glue with some WD-40, no problem.
All is well...

patience, a nice day, and no interuptions. take it slow, use a little bit of heat (try to make it feel like a warm summer day), a little glass cleaner or alchohol (remember little bits), get your rag wet. work it with your finger nail, take it slow. patience.

that is once you have the holder removed from the double sticky, use a putty knife or simliar item and more or less cut the bracket from the tape - the braket side, you don't want to do it on the car side or you may damage the finish.

The answer to this question is similar to how you remove BSM's. Yes, a hair drier is good, but this time of year just park it nose first into the sun. Pull up the frame as much as you can, and slide some dental floss down to the glued surfaces. There are three of them. Work the floss back and forth until it separates. WD-40 works well to remove the remaining glue. I have pictures of the underside of the mounting plate if anyone wants them - I'd post them here but I don't know how?

walk up to the front of the car, put your hands on the front plate bracket, and pull. No hair dryer required. Two sided tape ripped in half, leaving the rubber in between the glue mostly on the front plate bracket. Grab both sides so when the first of 3 attachment points break, you don't scratch the paint on the other side of the car.

I just did mine. I'll get something that looks better than the stock one once I find the one I want.. I'll keep the plate in the cat with the bracket attached in case I get stopped for the meantime.
