cant hear anything over that exhaust...have you heard it with the stock exhaust?
i would be pairing it up with an exhaust, but i miss the sucking sound that my G35 made up front with its popcharger intake. i want the same thing for my 6...
Sorry, I guess between the wind and the exhaust, the airbox is a bit tough to hear but you can tell a difference, as the deep breathing is evident under throttle -
Hopefully one of the guy's w/ the Honker alone, will capture a sound clip in cabin for you and post
I rode in a car with the vortex and couldnt really hear much of anything with it. This is making me think your not going to see much induction sound in the cabin with this one either. Not like putting the pop on a 350z for instance. Im also waiting for the word on induction sound.
What exactly is involved with this install? I'm more than capable of doing it, I'm just not sure if I'll need to go buy a pop rivet gun or whatnot for the install. I like to have everything ready ahead of time.
I can see by removing the hood would give good access to the shroud for cutting it, but all the drilled holes and rivets are high up on the radiator side. For me I can't see any other way except by going the way the instructions say. Reinstalling the shroud seemed a little easier. your not bending the whole shroud, just the bottom wings of it. Be patient, if your getting a little frustrated just walk away for a minute. The air conditioner condenser is close so you have to be careful not to muff that up. As far as the sound goes, I have Corsa Sports and it's hard to tell when I jumped on it. It did sound healthy under full throttle combined with the exhaust and intake.
I got home Tuesday evening and there was a Callaway box at my door with my Honker in it.
Thanks to cielosf for some of his install tips. I've read through the instructions and I can imagine it's gonna be a little bit of a PITA to get the shroud out, but overall looks like a pretty easy install.
I don't know when I'll get to it, but I'll try to take some pics of the process and post them.
One thing I forgot to mention. Make sure the Honker base is centered on the shroud. You do this by marking it out with tape per the instructions. However the tape may move on you taking the shroud out. I marked the center point on the shroud with the center on the base. The last thing you need is not to have everything lined up with the MAF sensor after your done with the installation.
I had mine installed this morning at the dealer where I bought the car (they also did the Corsa Sport). I agree with cielosf - much better throttle response, and SOTP says it is definitely faster. The instructions from Callaway referenced two screws which hold the bottom of the shroud to the front fascia, but there were no screws - apparently something's changed or is different with some C6's (not sure why). The guy at Purifoy Chevrolet in Ft. Lupton (Tony Orecchio, who did a terrific job) called Callaway and clarified. Agree the shroud is a pain to get out, but cielosf is correct - it's flexible and will come out. From there, cut, put in the rivets, etc., etc.
What a great design, and I'll tell you - just from the trip back (about 40 miles), the car likes this CAI a lot. Definitely recommend it.
Sounds sweet....I ordered mine about 2 1/2 weeks ago, wish the damn thing would show up...I'm ready to install! How long did it take you to receive the product after ordering?

Ok. You have convinced me. My order is going to be placed in a few minutes. Darn this Forum. It is worse than the mall for my wife.
I don’t know weather to be excited or drink heavily. My Honker came in 2 days ago and is on the DR table. Don’t have the guts to tackle it yet. This fumble fingered guy will need a Qt of bourbon for the install.
Thanks for the install info

Reason: typo
Ok seems everyone is getting one and installing it so how much HP does it make and more important how much torque. Remember torque make your car move 0 to 60, Hp keeps it there. So How much Tq and HP.

This damn place has cost me a bundle. I would have been totally happy with the car bone stock if it hadn't been for the forum!
I've got Corsas, a Honker (I'll try to get time to install it this weekend), Kooks headers on order, and I'm gonna do a cam - or maybe high ratio rockers, then a PCM tune. I also put in new speakers, door sills, body-color door handles and spoiler, got Baer drilled&slotted rotors (oversize for the rear), painted the calipers, painted the logo on the hood liner, put Z51 swaybars on the F55, and lowered it by cutting the rear bushings on the lowering bolts.
Oh well, I love the car and it's like my Harleys - it's hard to just leave them stock. I've got to do something to custom them up a little bit.

Isn't that the truth. When I got this car I promiced myself that bone stock would be fine, and then I heard a C-6 with Magnaflows and I had to have a set, so I ordered a set and had them installed.
Next move was the Kooks and a low temp thermostat. The car now sounds good and runs much better.
Then I hear about Z-industries and Ron Zimmer and his tuning. I drive out and he tunes my car....WOW. Big difference.
So I start out at 342 rwhp and end up at 390 rwhp and 380 rwtq.
Now I am looking for a cam, pushrods and an underdrive pulley.
My friend calls and starts talking about 427 strokers.

You hit the head on the nail (or is it the other way around?). I got my 2001 2500 Suburban, and didn't think about exhausts, intakes or anything else, and enjoyed it for 100K miles. I got my '02 Electra Glide, and was at my dealer with a $6K parts list the first week (on top of the big bore kit, cams & exhaust installed prior to delivery). Thought I was "done" (until HD sent me the 2004 parts/accessories catalog).
Now I've got my nice new C6, possibly the fasted car I've owned, and I'm irritated as hell that no one really has anything out there for it yet (like I've got any extra $$ to spend on it right now anyway).
What is it about our inability to EVER be satisfied with fast enough/flashy enough?
OTOH, I went down to one of my local dealers to get a "rear license plate cover" yesterday. On top of the dealer having the incorrect price ($96. instead of $65), its just a goddamn painted piece of plastic - no chrome screws/covers, lites, or anything else to justify even the $65. WTF GIVES HERE?

Yep - ya' go down to the local Harley dealer and there's more retail store space than there is garage. They sell hats, t-shirts, jackets, vests, chaps, jeans, boots, jewelry, mugs, all kinds of leather stuff, and about 10,000 pieces of chrome and perfomance parts for your bike. And there are probably more people that DON'T own Harleys in there buying that stuff than real Harley owners. I think Harley makes more money off the sales of their clothing and mods than they do selling motorcycles.
GM should take a clue from Harley and sell Corvettes at a Corvette dealership. And the place should have all the above mentioned stuff, except for Corvettes. They'd sell more stuff to the wanabe 'Vette owners and maybe even make some more 'Vette sales from all the people walking in to buy a Corvette t-shirt.
Oh well, I'm sure GM management knows what's best for the company.
