I believe that they just started shipping on Friday 5/20, we have several on order, but being on the west coast I figure that it will be a few more days until we get ours.
I ordered mine in late March. I was on vacation this week and found mine on the porch last night when I came home. It's a very well made unit, looks like a factory made part. Just finished reading the installation instructions and will try to install Memorial day. Keep you posted.

I am curious about the installation, how difficult it is, is there any cutting involved, how long does it take to install, can it be done by an amateur (like me)

While there is a small ammount of "cutting" of the shroud where the filter base mounts, it can easily be done someone without much experience.
The one I saw go on, took just a bit over an hour

Good deal! DELIVERED!
OEM Quality is the way they make components - they have supplied systems for everything from the MazdaSpeed Protege to Range Rovers, Holdens and Aston Martins - And of course the B2K Callaway TT Corvettes
Well it's on the car and it looks great.
As I said a real quality piece and it even has the same finish as the original part. Now for the installation.
I found it personally difficult getting the shroud off the car to cut. You have to jack up the car so you can gain access to some screws that hold it on. I wound up getting mad at the thing and got it off through pulling, bending (It's very pliable) and cursing. I would say you could do a few of these and the shroud thing would not get any easier.
I needed to go to Lowes to get a pop rivet gun needed to install the Honker base to the shroud. I had two large C clamps used to hold the base in place while drilling and inserting the rivets. Callaway supplies a drill bit, the rivets and a template to tape down to the shroud to use as a guide for the cut out. I bought the finest blade for my jig saw and that made a fast job of cutting through the plastic.
All together it took me about 3 hours and six beers. I took the car out for a quick run and it felt like it pulled more from 3,500 on up. The biggest advantage is sucking in that much cooler air ahead of the radiator. I did the road test in 70 degree weather, I'm sure the colder it gets the better it works and vise versa.
Just read the instructions, have all your tools on hand and don't forget the
I thought I had read that you could cut the opening without taking the shroud out of the car. Can you confirm for sure that you do or don't (or was that just an excuse to drink a six pack )
There is really no way to do the installaton without removing the shroud. Even if you could possibly get in there to make the cut, say with a dremel tool you still need to drill all the holes and clamp and rivet the base on. All the rivets are on the radiator side and cannot be seen unless you look up through the opening under the car. Maybe someone will try to epoxy the two together, that just a thought. Patience is the key here, this is where the six pack came in.

Thanks for the install report. I'm expecting to get mine in a week or two.
I've got 2 questions:
You mention it was a PITA to get the shroud out. Was it just as hard to get it back in? I would think it might even be harder after you rivet the Honker parts on or is it still plenty flexible?
Does it look like it will have a problem in the rain with water ingestion, or is the intake up high enough so it shouldn't be a problem?
Bob, the C6 the Honker was developed on, now has over 12,000 miles with the Honker Airbox installed
It has seen every kind of weather imaginable from wind & rain, to snow and sleet
Car has not seen any issues, period.
I hope this helps
Here is a pic. of the Honker installed... It sits fairly high
Didn't have the Honker but did have a bottom feeder for cold air. Was told not to worry about water it was tested under every conceivable condition, well $11,500 later I must have found the one that they didn't test for. Water vs motor, water won.
cant hear anything over that exhaust...have you heard it with the stock exhaust?
i would be pairing it up with an exhaust, but i miss the sucking sound that my G35 made up front with its popcharger intake. i want the same thing for my 6...
