Hi there,
did any one of you guys know what is the maximum HP can the C6
4-Speed auto gearbox handle without any modifications to the gearbox
someone told me it can handle 100 more HP,
is this true?
thanks
Last year's special edition of Corvette Quarterly says (pg. 65) that the C6 auto tranny can handle 670 lb.-ft. of input torque, according to Steve Ford, assistant chief engineer for the auto tranny. Article doesn't say how much HP. Don't think HP would be the units you should worry about.
If the tranny can manage the TQ (e.g. not break any gears of shafts or bearings) then you can manage just about any (ahem: reasonable) HP level with transmission oil coolers.

I have lpe 500 head and cam set up and just added headers high flow cats and x pipe should be close to 540 hp +or- and my auto runs great it shifts very hard .ran 12.34 at 115 mph with just lpe and could not get tires to hook up tell 2nd gear . have not been back to track yet but there is a jump in how it runs . you do not have to get into the right foot to make it run.
