WOT Ping?

WOT Ping?
My Z51 auto has 5028 miles on the clock. Yesterday during WOT from 30 mph, I thought i heard "pinging" after the auto's 1-2 shift.(2nd time this has happened) I use 93 octane gas(wawa gas). Could this really be pinging? Or maybe my exhaust billet is rattling(had to be cut when i installed Corsa Sports. This is causing me to be very concerned.

I would tend to think that it is something else rattling around and not engine knock, but you probably need to get it fixed whatever it is. If you think it sounds like knock and it is actually coming from at or near the engine, the knock sensors might perceive it as knock too which would kill your performance. Of course, the best way to diagnose this is to run the car at WOT with a data logger to see if there is knock retard, but as far as I know, there are no affordable scan tools available... yet.

Hard to say. Could be a little built up carbon blowing out as well.
Run a few tanks of Shell or Chevron and see if it still happens
