Default Honker help?

Trying to insyall Honker and having problems with the dreaded shroud. I have removed 6 pushpins and it is still stuck it looks like there is a silver speed nut holding it down at the bottom. Any ones have any ideas what I have to do.

I am quickly losing it.

I just PM'ed you, but It's been a few hours since you posted your question. I hope you've gotten the thing out by now - and back in!!

I think the "pin" on the passenger side you may be talking about is actually the outside air temperature probe.

Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions. It's just a real PITA to get the shroud out. I think you'll have an easier time getting it back in (at least I did). You sorta know a little better what you're trying to do.

Like I said, I hope you're all done with the whole install by now. Let us know how it went.

Bob

A PITA for sure...its very flexable, so bend/twist the heck out of it. Its pretty much bullet proof.

Tell you what I did: read these replys over the past month or so regarding installing the Calloway Honker and tell you what I did-found a local Corvette shop and set the date to have it installed, had it installed today and it took them the better part of 4-5 hours to do. It was their first Calloway but they did a very professional job. It took 2 men to disasemble and reassemble that damn shroud and it was NO EASY TASK. There are push pins (plastic type) everywhere, several wire assemblies that had to be disconnected, and man, let me tell you, unless you have ALOT OF PATIENCE AND TIME AND YOU ARE A PART-TIME CONTORTIONIST, its just not worth the money you spend to pay somebody to do it. They didn't expect it to take this lone so I was just charged a "fair" price of $168.00. I watched do the whole job including installing the pop rivets in and it would have taken me 1 or 2 days of bending, twisting and pulling and plus I didn't have a pop rivet gun.
So, for what it's worth...
Good Luck

Default callaway install

I wore a pair of tight fitting Mechanix gloves for the shroud extracting part. It sure can save your hands when your pushing and bending it. Also nobody factored in the booze bill for all the time it takes to get this thing in and out.

Glad that the job is done and over with. It took me most of the evening to do the install and the majority of the time was spent screwing with the shroud. My mechanics gloves were a lifesaver on the 'ol hands.
