Default C6 Valvetrain

Does anyone have a pronounced TICKING noise at about 2000-2500 RPM. It sounds like a lifter or something related. Its been there since new and seems to be louder now. Don't these cars have a pretty bullet proof valvetrain. I have never had the car above 5500 RPM and don't really drive it hard. Whats Up ?
Is the valve train TOTALLY quiete on your cars ??

I would think with roller type valve train there would be NO ticking noise.

Default Valve train noise

I've had these motors since 99,and they all made some valve noise. At start up it's the lifters filing up. The ones left on the nose of the cam when the engine was shut off. Also the cam profiles of rollers are more agressive making the ticking noise when the valve slams shut on the valve seat. Aftermarket cams with extremely agressive ramp speeds, sound like a solid cam when running, even though there not. Meaning they make even more noise. I've installed an aftermarket cam in every LS1 or now the LS2 motor and just get use to the noise. Remember it's harmless.
