Well, from what I've read, the only after market exhausts that have "no drone" are the Corsa's. The sound has been described as "European," not "muscle car."
I have my LG's and Corsa Sports on the way. I want it louder, but the A6 lives in the droan zone. Is it that bad to have a car that sounds like a Ferrari or Lamborghini?

I wonder if the LGs will change the tone of the corsas much
i have heard this set up before and it is extremely tinny sounding. not that that's a bad thing, but the "euro" sound definitely goes, in place of a aggressive, but again very tinny, muscle sound. i liked.
oh yeah....and i will be doing headers and potentially a nice lopey cam with my bullets in the coming months. if you go for it, please post some sound clips so i can have something to loop and play in my C6 on the way to work until the header go on.
From experience with my C5 and confirmed on my C6, the headers with high flow cats did change the tone but volume was still very tame . From prior personal experience I waited on an exhaust to see what the cam was going to do and I was glad I waited. The volume everywhere was louder with the cam. I am afraid that getting an after market exhaust would be too loud for me since i'm about there now. If there was a performance gain, I would do it but not so sure.
My car is very modded..heads, cam, headers, FAST intake...so an exhaust would probably make a bigger gain on my car now than on a stock car. If I do an exhaust it woud have to be the corsa sports but I would dyno before and after to answer the age old question does an exhaust do more for a modded car than a stock car.
Too many people get the exhaust and air cleaner as the first mod and since it doesn't add any real performance gain, I fail to understand this.
Why not get something you can feel for the same 1500 bucks as those combined?
I think most people do the air cleaner and muffler mods first because it does show results on other cars. Also, they're easy to install, don't add extra wear on the engine, and don't affect warranties.
I understand doing the exhaust, because I did mine because I couldn't stand the quiet stock system, and really like the look of mine. The cost made me hold off for a bit, but when a group buy came up on the one I wanted I jumped on it, and haven't seen as good of a price on it since.
But for the air cleaner... There's no way I'm spending $350-$400 for something that might make a slightly noticeable difference.
On a 2005 C6 I put kooks long tubes,...gutted high flow cats, and B&B bullets. This car does sound crazzzzy. Between a bike, and a formula one car. I like this setup,...
I have LG motorsports long tubes and titanium mufflers. My car just sounds pissed off.
A cars sound is part of its personality. I think most of us at least appriceate the sound of a V8 if not are downright in love with it. I hated the sound of the car stock and thats all there was to it. It had to go. Immedietly. I knew there was little to gain in performance and I didnt care. It had to go. I dont see an intake as being a bad investment. Halltech, LPE, and Callaway are on enough cars with real demonstrated HP improvements that I think we have to consider them legitimate mods. To small to be SOTP but dollar per dollar spent (more or less 10 hp/350 to 400 bucks) as good or better than headers. The thing that matters with these mods is that a person knows what hes getting and gets what he wants out of them. A guy looking to gain hp with a muffler change is going to be dissapointed. A guy wanting it to not sound like a buick will be happy. Want SOTP? Dont get an intake. Its only good for more or less 10 hp and your not going to feel it. As part of an upgrade plan it will put its sticks in the fire. This, an UD pulley, etc, add up.
I installed the B&B exhaust on my C-6 without headers and it added noticable HP and a great muscle car sound without being real loud in the car. When you get on it it sounds incredible and at highway speeds it gives the car a nice resonate sound in the car. I love my B&B's
I hope this helps. I also heard them with headers and it is quite a bit louder.

Here is my Corsa Sports and Kooks singing at WOT. Not european to me
