I had Corvette Mike's install my Callaway Honker. The Senior Tech was impressed with the quality. I didn't notice any difference in performance.

Default Intakes

I installed a Callaway Honker on both of my Vette's and think they look great. Infact they almost look like they came from the factory because of the fit and finish. As for performance the car responds much better out of the hole and at any engine speed. The funny part is I notice both cars run just slightly cooler temp's. This is due to the fact you are pulling in cool air and not hot engine heat. I noticed way more performance from my intake than I did from either of my exhausts! I had Corvette Mike's install mine and they thought it was a great fitting
product, ask for Chad. If you can live with the quiet exhaust I'd spend the money on the intake and be done with it.

Thanks for passing on the compliment regarding quality. I'm very surprised that you didn't feel the difference when you installed the Honker, though. In back to back testing, compared to the OE intake system, our engineers recorded a 11 to 13 rwhp (SAE) in our chassis dyno testing and customers have reported 12 to 19 rwhp. We can't confirm our customers' results though, as so much depends on test procedure. I guess it can be difficult to "feel" 11-13 rwhp.
Plus, in our dragstrip testing, our engineers recorded three tenths in the 1/4 mile quicker than stock, more than the 11 to 13 hp would suggest. Recent testing with our Z06 proved our hypothesis that GM configured the front of the Corvette to create a high pressure area in front of the radiator, where the Honker gets its inlet air. This, in effect, allows increased airflow (and increased hp) as a function of vehicle speed. The details are in this engineering report: Callaway Eng'g Dep't., 05-1186.
Where the Honker gets its air is only part of the story. The other part is probably more important: that is, the inlet air path of the Honker is designed to be as "uni-directional" as possible to maximize laminar flow. Air doesn't like to change directions. When it is forced to, it slows down and sort of bunches-up; flow becomes turbulent. So the Honker's main air duct provides a smooth air path with no abrupt changes in cross-sectional area or airflow direction.

I've heard some good things about the Calloway Honker. Especially at the 1/4 mile track, .2 and quicker and 1 to 2 mph better trap speed.

Default Lingenfelter Cold Air Induction

I think fit and finish is important. I have the lingenfelter and I like the way it looks OEM after the install. I could feel a difference when I installed it. I think the C6 really responds to cold air. The install showed gains over the mid-range and max rpm in both hp and torque.

I installed a vararam last year. The shroud is cut out almost completely and a air tight box and filter are mounted on top. I noticed a difference at highway speeds, motor isn't starving for air....
