Default Best headers for C6 six speed vert

Well guys I just whipped on a modded G35 today and am very excited because I just ordered the Vara Ram intake. Now I would like to get a set of good long tube headers. I am look at Kooks or LG please let me know which is easier in terms of install and performace. LG seems to talk allot of stuff but can they really back it up. Thanks

Seems that most of the headers produce relatively the same amount of hp. I went with Kooks headers and x cross over.

Pretty true about peak HP but the LG claim is low end TQ which shows in dyno sheets. The 1/4 mile guys like to point out that the car is just as fast with either but the drag guys don't operate the car at low rpm since switching gear to gear on a 1320 track involves no low end rpm performance.

You have to decide if the street TQ and cost is an issue for you. The LG's are about 400 more. I am about ready to jump to LG's and I have the Kooks if you wish to buy them. 5 months old- 3" with cats.

SpinMonster, you must be really convinced that the LGs are going to give you a lot more torque since you are willing to sink so much more money into the swap. What info are you basing this off of? Not questioning your word, just inquiring because I have not seen any. I would be really shocked if there is any noticeable difference between the two, especially to justify a swap.

Header brand preference seems to be about the same as what color Corvette you prefer.

Fit; All the brands seem to fit without major problems.

Finish; All seem to be well made and the same alloy of Stainless Steel.

Install; All seem to be the same, no major differences. Most shops are getting + or - $450.00 for the install.

Power; If you look at the unbiased Dyno charts all brands seem about the same overall H/P and TQ increases.

Price; Anywhere from $1400 to $1800 for Longtube with X pipe, you want to watch shipping charges and State Taxes. Watch for Group Buys from the Forum Vendors.

Had kooks 1 7/8 X pipe high flow cats installed yesterday seems like a different car. Dynoed 368 rwhp and that's without a tune. dyno before was 347rwhp. it sure feels like i gained alot more then 21 hp.

Don't do it, its one thing to buy the LG's first and have them, but to switch for a minimal amount of power, if any, is a financial mistake. Save the money/time and get a Fast intake, it will help your car out way more.
Your going to spend $400 more, and lose at least $200 on selling the Kooks.

fredgpowell, if he sells them, buy them.

I picked up my LG set new for just under 1,500 with cats. Easy mod to do and it sounds awesome even with the stock mufflers.

My car hit 380rwhp/360rwtq SAE with mods in my sig (Kooks headers). This particular dynojet, for whatever reason, usually dyno's a bit lower in the torque so the lower number doesn't surprise me.

LG Pro LongTubes are the best hands down. I've got them on a VERT MN6/Z51 and a COUPE MN6/Z51.

I was out on the track today they sound great and the throttle response is great.

I've also been in a car with DynaTech SuperMaxx; very good feeling - but I'm buyin what wins races in World Speed Challenge.

In the end when the difference in total TQ/HP is +/-5 - then make the decision on powerband. 2nd gear will be a whole new experience with LG/LTs (I'd mention 3rd, but that's 60+ and might induce a speeding thread).

Hate to rain on your marketing parade, but all headers will go on a C6 in a matter of minutes. The big change is the absence of the wings on the oil pan that the C5 had.

Had the LG's on in under three hours from pulling the car onto the lift and pulling it off.

Why do you say they are the best hands down? I'm just wondering if anyone has done a dyno comparison of the two headers on the same car, just so we are comparing apples to apples. I keep seeing posts that LG are the best, but when I ask for info to back up the claim, it seems hard to come by. I don't have a dog in the fight as far as which one produces better results, I'm just interested to see if the claims are in fact true.

Tune in to Speed when the season starts and look for the *racers* with Kooks or Dynatech in the lead. For reference, I have said the "hands down" part before and it's based solely on what I see winning races. The HP/TQ war's that go on with these are only +/- 5 so it's really a matter of tune/scenario and how it affects the torque/powerband.

As for HP/TQ reference, HalJensen has DynaTech/LPE intake and Magnaflow's. I have LGLTs/HallTech and Corsa - we pull within a few HP/TQ. It could be argued that if I had the LPE intake (not manifold) then I would be 5-10 more or if Hal had the LGLTs he would pull 5-10 more...

Peak dyno numbers mean nothing, dyno sheets are for Mustang owners, ET's are what count.

Maybe you'll even get some help installing them....

I want to buy your headers if you sell them ... that goes for any of you.

How hard are they really to do? Do you have to take off alot of parts?

Remove the stock exhaust equipment.

The only other things I removed were, coil covers, plug wires and the spark plugs.
