Last I checked, all STI owners that I know are just too cheap to buy a vette...granted that is not all STI owners.

Once again, this is a perfect example of people too cheap to buy vettes trying to pretend that they have a faster car. Instead of making a crackerjack toy, buy a good car to start off...

That's just my $.02

yea i bought my sti because im too cheap to buy a vette.

****, how did that vette appear in my driveway

please dont think vettes are too expensive and unattainable by all. They old sold 37,000 of them last year.

face the facts, vettes are great, but they are just a 12 second car, its NOT a supercar and NOT the fastest on the road

would you cry if a civic showed its tailights?

haha...first off Jim, read the entire post, like the first 2 lines "not all owners".

Second, did you not notice the post comparing STOCK cars? If a stock civic beat a stock vette, I would drop dead...honestly. If you want to mod a civic, I will mod a vette, and I will still beat it. If you want to mod an STI, I will mod a vette, and although I will lose on shorter distances, I will beat it in the long run.

I never said that they were the fastest cars on the road, and i never said it was a super car...I DID say that they are faster than stock STIs and since you want to bring civics into the picture, they are faster than stock civics as well...

Don't even try to bring supercars into the picture because I'd be willing to bet that a Mclaren would beat an STI no matter how many mods you stuck on that car...

Yup, you are right...

I am too cheap to buy a viper...
I am too cheap to buy a ferrari...
I am too cheap to buy a lambo...
I am too cheap to buy an S7...

And I guess every STI owner must be too cheap to buy one as well...

My two cents

Stock for stock cobra vs C6 would be very close. Probably go to the better driver. I also think a Z51 package woud make it closer and possible give the C6 the advantage.

When it comes to easy Mod Horsepower, Advantage Cobra.

Of course you are comparing apples to oranges.

As I always say Two great American Icon!

Most of these claims are nonsense. A C6 Corvette has at least a 17% power to weight advantage over any car mentioned in this thread.

With a 180 lb driver:

C6 Corvette
8.39 Lbs/hp

Cobra SVT
9.85 Lbs/hp

Subaru STI
11.77 Lbs/hp

Mustang GT
12.22 Lbs/hp

Lightening
14.81 Lbs/hp

The only car with a chance is the Subaru on a slick track or street with a poor driver in the C6 and then only for short distances.

If the car is not stock this is a meaningless discussion.

If I remember correctly, the 03-04 cobra's 1/4 et. was 12.9.(390 hp) Wont the new Cobra with 475(hp) Be much faster?

In a typical street race, where traction is extremely limited, an STI may very well stay ahead of a c6 corvette for a very very long time.

Consider that thay can pull 1.7 60ft times on almost any surface. A corvette might do that if driven perfectly at a good drag strip, but its more likely to be up to a half second behind already after the first 60ft on the street.

The STIs are fast cars, easy to make faster. If you want to get into a pissing match with them, just make fun of their far less optimal suspension or something.

The Sti owners claiming this only have a Cobb stage2 upgrade which gives them about 340-350 hp(crank) Some are claiming only to "fear" 03-04 Cobras. Some have also stated that their Sti's can hold off c6 vettes all the way up to 120 mph. Is this possible? Seems that they dont respect the C6 for its performance, only the lightnings and Cobra's. I thought stock for stock that the c6 vette is the better performer. Any thoughts? I'll be pissed if a 30,000 subaru with only 1k in mods can beat my 50k c6.

I've owned my C6 A4 for about 1600 miles and is now stored for the winter. But before it went to hibernate, both were lined up as my daily driver is an 05 STi. I will say that the A4 with 3.15 will not pull it from a dead stop. About 45 the Corvette does what is is supposed to do and start reeling it in. My 02 C5 could not do this, however and had to exceed 125 or so to go by. Both are totally different but do their job well. The Sti with 4 v rated snows is perfect for New Engalnd winters. I would also say the Subaru is extremely quick from a stop, but you have to abuse the driveline to launch like that. Both cars are great in their element.

Then Ill say it....

Supercharging your daugthers' Cougar isnt going to drop the 0-60 time by 3.5 sec. and the wheel hop and torque steer must be aweful on that thing.

125hp and 130 Tq stock......supercharged ??? maybe 200hp (with a lot of boost) in a 3000Lb car that thing would be lucky to see 45-50mph in the 1/8.

As for the lightning, bone stock my lightning went 13.4. I've seen times here posted that or less. News to you corvette guys, the lightning in the 1/8th will probably beat the majority of stock c6's, especially you guys who can't drive a stick. On the street, how many people run out the full 1/4?? I'd say the lightning stock, IF you can find a stock lightning, I don't know of any that exist, would be a great match up from 0-80.

All in all, unless you are running up top, MOST of those cars have a good chance of beating a stock vette.
When a post contains "you Corvette Guys" and put downs like "especially you guys who can't drive a stick" you are dealing with an outside hater that lacks any credibility. IMO

We are no longer into tuner car drag racing. I personally always have been and always will be a V8 man. But after being involved in tuner racing I learned to appreciate what kids can do with 4 and 6 cylinder cars making 500 to 1700 horsepower. Unless you are familiar with this area, some could be in for embarrasing situation.

I drive an 06 Vette, but previously had a Lightning.

I thought twice about buying a vette due to the stigma associated, that many vette owners are like saplumr who posted in the first place saying nothing could beat his C6 and lightnings and cobras were junk. I would have happily showed him the tail lights of my Lightning.
