Nah, I'm not even close to the center console...its the padding under my left cheek/upper left leg that is squashed down...

So no luck with my local dealer...they said they didn't really feel any difference between that and another one they had in there that they compared it to...and they didn't want to tear it apart and start stuffing things in there for fear that it won't look right once fixed...I'm talking to Kerbecks (where I purchased it from) about getting either a new base of a seat or an entirely new seat if just that piece can't be replaced...I gotta get something done...

If you took the bottom seat cover off, you would see that it has about a 3/8" foam that is attached to the side area. The side area is a low grade vinyl and the foam has little resistance and is easily compressed with minimum spring back. Base seat padding is acceptable, but cover should have a higher density and thicker foam backing to solve your problem

If it werent for the side airbags you could just put on sheepskin seatcovers or if you were one of the very few who bought the 1SX package.

Thanks for the details...that sounds about right...but considering the low miles on the car, how should I go about getting that taken care of? Thats not something GM will pickup the price tag for is it? Think a good upholstry shop would be my best bet at this point?

I'd first try the dealer and zone rep route as logically you shouldn't have this problem with low miles, but remember the seats are poor quality construction and materials.

If no luck with that route then find a good local auto trim shop and ask what they can do. Problem is that the cost is in their labor to remove the seat and the lower seat cover. Don't know if you are handy, but the seat removes easily (if you have a side air bag car, make sure you disconnect the negative terminal prior to seat removal) and you can bring them the seat, or remove the cover and bring them just the cover for additional padding. I have a base 1LT car and had both seats redone in two tone with piping for $1200.00.

So really what that means is that even with an entirely new seat I'm just buying time till it happens again I'm definitely not handy enough to remove the seat myself...just handy enough to change my own oil Looks like my best route (if the new seat thing fails) is to goto the local upholstry shop the dealer recommended and see what they can do for me...definitely hoping it won't cost that much though

Price I quoted was to have both seats repadded and trimmed overall with a better quality leather in a non-stock color and configuration ! The stock leather is not as good as a high quality marine grade vinyl !!!

They look great...a little bit extreme for what I had in mind...I like the all black but that red and black might look good in my VR...don't want to spend that kind of money though...but ya get what ya pay for I guess...

So, your side airbags will work with this re-fit?

1LT has base seats and no side airbags. 2LT, 3LT sport seats can also be retrimmed as long as you duplicate the panel for the side airbag.
