Guess it’s dealer discretion, which seems to be the case with some warranty claims. But I would think they fixed the problem on the C6 that's what bugs me.

My C6 is holding up pretty well. I only have 5200 miles on it though. Must admit that I keep the seats well treated so they are pretty slick. Makes the rear end slide across as opposed to draging across.

Having owned 2 C5's I won't be surprised when things go wrong, I'm sure a fix has already been created with many years and miles of R&D. I'd suggest asking C5 owners if they experience a particular problem, no sense reinventing the wheel.

I'm taking it to the dealer on Friday. I'm going to print out these pictures and take with me. Hopefully they will explain it better to the service writer

Similar mileage and time but no wear here, it maybe related to how you get into the car, weight and size. Me I stay away from McDonalds and the like and my *** misses the bolster when I sit down.

Default well I have same problem

Well it seems that we all have the same problem. I am soooo careful when i get in and out of my car but I took it to the dealer to get something else fixed and the P)*(&)&*^ careless (*&*&^ probably fell into the seat about 5 or so times completely opening up my tiny hole on the seat.

Now its about as big as a grape in diameter. There MUST be a repair kit or something. I dont think a seat cover will solve the problem because you will still be rubbing that same area just with more material.

Who wants a cover over leather anyways? Just looks ugly. So anyone have any repair advice? Repair kit or something?

HELPP!!!

You don't have much leather to begin with, and the leather that you do have is poor quality. Depending on your car, base model (1LT, 1SX) or sport seat (2LT, 3LT, 1SA, 1SB) both have a one piece seat cushion cover. The seat backs are one piece in the base model and two piece in the sport seat. You can buy the replacement cover from any dealer.

As far as repair, ir can be done if the hole isn't too large. More latitude with repair on the vinyl area of the seats then the leather seating surfaces.

hmm well the little worn area is about the same size as a small grape in diameter. Its on the leather not the other material.

Seats are base seats not sport seats. What would you recommend for leather repair? Sorry if i'm misunderstanding

If you want to repair, then start with your dealer. They will not do the repair work, but they probably have a source that will come to the dealership to do it. The repair to the leather will be done with a vinyl based product. A sub base material will be put in the hole, then a color match paste will be applied to close the hole. The paste is feathered or blended to the leather, then grained to match the leather. If done correctly you'll probably not notice the repair. If the repair can't be made the you can buy the stock leather seat cover from the dealer. You would have to remove the damaged cover and install the new cover. Back seat cover has two zippers on the back, a velcro tab and some push pins. Seat cushion cover is velcro and push pins. Not like the old days of clips and hog nose pliers required to remove and install leather.

Just disassemble the seat your self and take the cover to a local automotive upholstery shop. It isnt that difficult!!

They fixed mine and did a better job than GM!!

Yep, 24,000 miles here too. I have a visibly worn spot, but no actual hole yet.

I don't believe this has anything to do with how you get in or out of the car, that would look different. The wear is occurring while you sit in the seat and your butt is putting pressure on that point. There's no, or insufficient, padding at that point to spread the load, so the leather wears and stretches at that point.

I must disagree with your theory lol. I have watched myself go in and out of my seat and everytime my butt/hip hits that spot. I have to conciously get out of it and in properly.

nonetheless I like that idea of taking the seat cover off. I'm retarded/wish I thought of that myself!

I've got 3000 miles in two months and I've already noticed an area of wear on the driver's side seat bolster! Wow. This is really disappointing.

26K miles and mine is doing it too. No hole yet but I've noticed a wear spot. I haven't felt for a hard spot underneath but if there is one, it sure sounds like a manufacturing defect to me.

I have 100K miles on my F250 and the fabric seats look just like they did new, not a single wear mark anywhere.

Well for one thing, the leather is not the best there is and does seem to suffer from excessive wear on some seats. What I found is that I got to take the cell of my belt when getting into the car-I wear mine on the left and gets the bolster every time I don't. The other thing I have learned over a lot of years is to keep the door side seat bolster very clean and conditioned-the Zaino leather stuff seems to work the best. Finally, I found that leather seats really hate flat braided belts and rough textured belts-they act like sandpaper!

I have only 800 miles on my car and have been extremely careful getting in and out and what I wear and the cording on the outside of the bolster is definitely showing wear.I am starting to look for aftermarket replacement leather seat upholstery in the same cobalt red but done properly including padding in the right places over the frame. It doesn't seeem to make much sense to replace it with more of the same under warranty, and I certainly don't want to leave it the dealership or have it driven who knows where by who knows whom to get the same or a patched up o.e. cover.

Are there any directions on disassembling a seat to get to the worn down padding area?

That's what's wrong with GM. Each dealer can do their own thing. It's hard to build customer loyality when you get 6 different answers to the same question. My dealer was a joy to work with. I had buddies with full blown C5R motors dripping with all sorts of "performance enhancing" mods and they didn't care.

I'm at about 4000mi and my left leg just started hurting like it was sitting on something hard this past week...then I noticed it was the padding squashed all the way down and my leg basically sitting on a piece of metal...gonna call the dealer tomorrow and see what they can do
