I ordered mine without the nav unit so I can purchase a better aftermarket unit. Look at the Eclipse avn5495 . It is awesome and it works with all factory chimes and acc.heres a link

Alot of folks (myself included) have done the Pioneer AVIC-D1 Nav unit also. There are adapters that allow you to use the factory Blose Amp/Spkrs (YECH!), or use the adapter to maintain chimes & RAP - change out the speakers, add a REAL amplifier. In that case, you WILL have to run new speaker wires, and lines from the head unit to the amp - but the difference in sound quality (if you care about sound) is amazing.
Since you posted in the C6 Tech section, and not the Audio section, I assume you're really talking about a supercharger head unit, right? Swapping a D1 for a P1?
Thanks for giving this link. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of trust for these things and zero if there is no return policy. For example, I purchased a SoundGate AUXGMV3 from Logjam. I wasted an entire Saturday, but couldn't get it to work. They sent me a replacement assuming the first was bad. I just spent this Saturday trying to get it to work. No dice. So, even though they say it will work doesn't mean it will. It's also obvious that they didn't test it on the different versions of the C6 radio. For example I think the Aux above will work on the 1SB version of the C6's radio, but I doesn't in the 1SA version which I have.

Where are these adapaters and can they be used with other HU's? It's not that I don't care about sound, it's just that I do my serious listening on a top flight home unit.
Crap. Why does this have to be so damn difficult. Why couldn't they have just put an AUX port on this thing?
I rewired my non-nav radio. You plug in the harness and hook up the wires. It was terrible though, took me a whole 10 minutes TOPS.
The people who complain the most about these cars and how hard they are to work on are the people who have never tried but heard from others like themselves that it was hard.
I bought a PAC harness off Ebay. Plugged it in, and hooked it to my Avic D1, I could do the job over again in a matter of minutes. Of course I also ran all new amps, speakers and subs, but I hear that's damn near impossible too.
Does not work....been there done that. (still waiting for someone to come out with something)
Ian
Why doesn't it work?? Please enlighten me....I'll BRB I gotta go tell my stereo to stop working because you said so.
If you take the time to look in the FAQ, there is an excellent write up by another member who installed his Eclipse unit by using the PAC harness as well.
All of my chimes still work, and my headunit stays on until I open the door. So I'm not sure WHY it doesn't work. I didn't use the factory speakers, but that's just a couple more wires to hook up. I think you were possibly misinformed or just did something wrong.

Thanks a lot for this information. Very encouraging! A few questions:
1. Can you confirm that you have a 1SA model?
2. Did you need to use a dash kit or some other trim or did the radio fit perfectly?
3. Where did you mount the nav antenna?
4. Where is the AUX port located on this unit. I could not see it in pictures.
Thanks again!
1. I have the base stereo because I knew I was ripping it all out. I am only using the harness for powering the unit, I amplified all the other speakers and subs so there was no need to connect the stock amp. The harness however says it will be no problem if you want to.
2. You need a dash kit, Metra sells a double din dash kid for the Vette.
3. My nav antenna is mounted underneath the dash, on top of the AC vents. Works perfect, it's right next to my XM antenna, there are NO exposed antennas on my car.
4. You will need an aux adapter. If you are using an ipod they sell an ipod interface specifically for the pioneer. If you are using another outside source you will need the CD - RB10 or CD-RB20 aux input converter.
