With my luck the day I get my wheels back MT or BFG will announce their new 19" drag radials.

Wheels should be here by Friday I believe. As long as spin comes back with some good news on the measurements I will press on with the operation.

I still have not heard back from weldcraft. I think my best bet will be to just call them before I ship the wheels so I can be very specific about what I need.

Went out to dinner at Outback and came home. Yahoo, OEM painted C6 fronts have arrived. As soon as we figure out what to tell weldcraft I will have them widened.

Ok, I think I will get them on their way to weldcraft in the morning if FedEx ground is open. I think they are open till noon tomorrow.

I really have not heard much on measurements so here is what I came up with. At the worst I will need spacers.

I am going with a 2 inches on the OEM front. That will give me an 18x10.5 inch wheel. I could run from 275's through 315's, so I am in ET street and BFG DR sizes.

The final dimensions I am sending to weldcraft will be this.

Current Dimensions

18"x8.5 offset = 58 mm backspace = 158 mm

Please widen the wheels 2 inches so they will have the completed dimensions

18"x10.5" offset = 58mm backspace = 209 mm
If someone see's a major problem with this plan please PM or post by 10 AM tomorrow, Saturday.

11.3 will work unless the suspension travel will interfere. The wheel sits better in the well with a 5mm spacer but the lugs arent long enough. 19" looks ok with 11.5-11.6

12" will work with a spacer.

I should be fine then. I thought 10.5 would be about right for my application. Thanks Spin that gives me a warm and fuzzy. I was just out in my building re boxing these to ship in the morning.

I am excited about this little project. Now I start thinking about tires.

I am amazed at how inexpensive you can pick up practically brand new painted OEM wheels. And they are nice looking wheels too.

I may get another set and try the Z06 runflat size tire if this DR project turns out good.

Thanks for the effort Spin

I was thinking maybe even a 295. I will only be running around 370 RWHP with the A6. Nice to know a 315 will work though. I ran a 315's on Z06 size thin spoke repos on my C5 and they worked nice.

I think I will wait for the wheels and mount them to see where they come to on the top of the fender. I would like to stay inside the fender if I can.

I don't mind using spacers if I need too. I am off to FedX to ship to weldcraft.

Ok, I will estimate some on shipping costs. This would be the total set up as I plan to chrome the wheels to match my fronts. Still on the fence about having sensors, need to research a little more. I did not put in spacers, not sure how much they are or whether I need them.

I itemized everything, because some will set up differently than I.

2 OEM 18x8.5 painted rim used with shipping 237.50
Shipping to Weldcraft 18.00
Weldcraft fee to widen wheels 400.00
Shipping back to me 18.00

Chrome two wheels and shipping 600.00
Chrome two center caps and shipping 25.00
C6 colored cross flags 22.00
Two BFG DR's 315's 573.00
New Sensors ? 100.00
Tool to program sensors 370.00
Total 2363.50

Well there is another problem. the 245/40/18 front tire has a fairly tall over all diameter.

I was thinking about running the BFG 315/30/18, but it's overall diameter is shorter than the front tires. This was a definite no no in a C5 due to AH/TC problems.

I assume it is the same with the C6??

Anyway all is not lost nitto 305/35/18 and the BFG 295/35/18 have a little taller over diameter. I am leaning towards the nitto.

Nitto actually makes a 305/45/18 DR that would be nice because of the taller sidewall but I think the over all diameter may be too big for the wheel well.

Has anyone heard anymore about MT making an 18" DR. It was supposed to come out this spring but I have not seen anything?

Any thoughts from the crowd??

As I posted the max is under the 12 inches for the stock wheels' resulting offset and you will have to use spacers. Not a problem in use as I have done that many times with silly power but you will have to replace the stock studs with ones that are a 1/2 inch longer to accomodate the spacers and get enough turns on the lugs to hold the wheels on.

The wheels if too wide will hit the control arms.

What kind of integrity do you think that weld is going to have? How will they get it to be perfectly balanced? What if the weld isnt perfect and your wheel separates? WAY too many what ifs to be putting onto a sports car with this much power.

Weather or not they can do it is not the question. Would I want to be driving my car with a welded extension in them...no freaking way.
