Is there a way to start the Oil Pump prior to starting the car?
I would like to move my car out of the garage every night to get to my workout equipment. I don't like the idea of starting the car and only moving the it a few feet. Would this idea help prevent start up damage?
On the old small blocks you would have to pull the distributor and drive the oil pump with a hand drill. With the Gen II and Gen III engines, the gerotor oil pump is on the snout of the crankshaft, so you can't turn it unless you turn the engine over. So, since you are getting ready for a work out anyway, why don't you put the car in neutral and push it in and out of the garage. I really don't blame you for not wanting to add a lot of starts to your car, but in the end you probably won't hurt it.

I read that the Mobile 1 oil clings to all the walls in the engine for a while, maybe weeks. There will not be any excessive wear due to no oil during these starts.

You can't run the oil pump without turning over the engine, which sort of defeats the purpose. But you can fit an Accusump to the car. This is a tank that stores pressurized oil when you shut off the car (it uses a gas over the oil to retain pressure). You open a valve just before starting the car and the Accusump pressurizes the engine's lube passages before you start. This is probably overkill for a street car, but it does eliminate dry start issues.
You could install an Accu-sump. I think thats what its called. It stores pressurized oil while the engine is running, then prior to start, a valve is turned and this pressurized oil circulates through the passages. Its used mainly on racs cars, and IMHO, would be over kill on your car, but kits are avilable.
