Look at that....and I didn't even need an overpriced education.

I see you have a trend of paying more for something than it's worth, I'll just let you keep on that path.
No that dummy would be you, paying $859 for an intake and slaving for 4 hours to put it in and cutting up your car, when you can get the same results from porting yours for $150 and have it in in 20 minutes.

What is amazing is that you are going to buy the fast after everything you have read here.

You see, education is not so expensive after all when you consider all the advantages it confers, including: the ability to reason intelligently through an issue, the ability to extract useful information from a thread, and the ability to learn from others' mistakes.

Oh, and by the way, the US Army paid for my undergrad and I got a scholarship and employer money for Stanford. So you in fact paid part of my education. Thank you.

Default Fast

A lot of what I read here on the FAST intake just isn't accurate. If you look at my car you could not tell that the plastic between the wiper motor and the engine bay had been modfied. There are no mods required that would impact interior noise.

The FAST may also be ported and the flow improved. The dfference is the FAST is two piece and may be opened up and ported allowng more effecent porting to be performed.

I am very happy with the FAST the install and the way my car runs. If I did it again I would do the same thing.

Now stop that! You're going to convince me to cut my car and spend another $800.

The people who had this porting work need to inform us and voice their opinion. It's just too much skepticism about this topic. I do know an exceptional mechanic who install the FAST intake with any mods and gained less horsepower. The FAST only produced or enhanced hp after adding the mods. A different tech mech. that I know of, ported or more like cleaned the intake manifold and produced noticeable horsepower without any mods. So, I guess it's all about the money. It appears that we need a Rocket Scientist to settle this topic.

I've read several different threads on this subject, on 3 different boards. Still haven't seen any pics of the LS2 ports, either before or after the porting. Seems like it would be reasonably easy to do with a Dremel tool.

It would seem so. I read in one thread that it was thin in some places.

I've seen and felt the roughness in the LS2 intake before porting. I've seen the material taken out of the intake and it would fill a coffee cup. Don't forget, it is a molded product. It will have seams in it from the mold. It took Jeremy 2 hours to just do the porting, not counting the time it takes to disassemble and assemble. Dyno was done before and after porting. 15/rwhp and 15/rwtq increase.

SSCAMARO,
Did the horsepower solely came from the intake porting or with mods added after the porting. I just want to make sure because 15 rwhp is a noticeable gain. Put me on the right track. Thanks

I think the price to port is around 275, of course I am sure it depends on where you get it done. I would not attempt to do this myself. When it comes to mechanics I am like a baby bear cub trying to screw a football.

So anyway, I went with the FAST. I will let the tuner port the thing.

Who is selling ported polished TB's? Anyone know. I did a search, no joy. I see them on LPE's web page but it does not say polished or ported on the description.

Wasn't Mark Shaner doing these for the LS1s a while back?
