Default Ported Ls6 Intake Vs Fast?

How much would you lose by getting the factory intake ported than by going with a fast intake? The cost and difficulty of the FAST makes me want to find an alternative before I start hacking up my factory fiberglass :p

I'm not a mechanic, but I pretend to be one on the internet.

I do know that a guy over on the Z06 forum was getting 15-20hp on a porting job, which is at or higher than the gains seen with a FAST intake. Not sure if the 15-20 converts the same on a non-Z, but just my $0.02.

The stock intake is the LS2, not the LS6. Porting has produced anywhere from 0 to around 15 depending on the car and who you ask.

I wish we could find someone selling ported LS2 intake manifolds on an exchange basis. Same with a ported and polished throttle body.

Is anyone working on a FAST we can install without hacking into the Firewall?

I'm working on the exchange LS2 intakes right now. Should have the first one tested next week. Keep your eyes peeled on this forum

Was going to post: two guys at least already doing the porting, with results close to the FAST. Hmm lets see...$1500 minimum for the FAST installed with maybe 15hp, or 13HP average for the ported LS2 intake at $150 or so. Bonus: the LS2 can take boost after the fact, unlike the patched (to clear firewall) FAST intake.

This is a no- brainer.

Go to Parts Sales, there's a vendor who is working on the intake porting. Also, the porting has been proven for noticeable gains close or more than FAST with the C6 in stock form. You could also check with Jeremy of RevXtreme, supporting vendor for further information on this topic. Good luck!

I had my intake ported 2 weeks ago by Jeremy. Gained 15/rwhp and 15/rwtq from the porting. Cost $250.00+$100 for the dyno. He was here in PA for a week tuning and porting.

1500 installed for the fast??

It costs 799, the install kit is 60 dollars. That's $859. Then you install it yourself, or pay someone 2 hours labor.

Where did you go to school??

Umm 2 hours? Does that include hacking the firewall, making or purchasing a patch kit, affixing it to the firewall, dismantling the top of the engine and relocating associated parts to the fast???

2 hours would be impressive

You mean all the time it takes to remove the FRC's, TB, intake and rivet a premade piece into the firewall??

Was the 15rwhp gain without the tune?

I can not find that thread in the parts for sale section. What search word are you using. I tried intake, and intake manifold, no joy.

I ordered a new LS2 intake from Fred Beans, then shipped it out for porting. My stock intake will eventually go up for sale here or on eBay.

Default I had my FAST done At A&A corvette

Yea, Andy mods the intake, and yea he cuts the firewall, ( now he's got the premade part from LPE), You can't tell the firewall was modded, and you can't see the the area the FAST was modded. BTW it works great with high HP motors. LS2 intakes are junk, I don't care how much you port match them. I've seen how restrictive they are on the dyno, as compared to the FAST at the high end of the RPM range. The LS6 manifolds are much better than the LS2 even with the 78mmTB vs the 90mm of the LS2. I've seen them both in action on my car and there is no comparison. And I really don't believe that porting something that can't be ported much will bring it even with the FAST in performance.
Anyway that's my .02 cents.

Anybody expecting to match the FAST will probably be disappointed. I'd be happy with 10hp for less than half the cost, and not cutting up the car and opening it up to more interior noise. We're not all building all-out head/cam cars.

I actually have an old LS6 manifold from my C5 in the garage, but the LS2 fuel rails don't fit it right, so I'm staying away from it. I like a clean, OEM quality install.

Princeton undergrad and Stanford MBA, actually.

Why don't you educate yourself on what's involved in installing a FAST intake on a C6 before posting idiotic statements.

I know what's involved. I buy the fast for $799. I buy the installation kit for 60 dollars. I take myself outside and install it, $0.

Look at that....and I didn't even need an overpriced education.

I see you have a trend of paying more for something than it's worth, I'll just let you keep on that path.
