Default Traction Control System

OK......I've read the owners manual, searched the forum, and still don't know the answer...... When would I want to turn off the TCS?

At the track. I never turn the system off on the street.

If you are generating significant horsepower, as I am with a Pro Charger and several other mods, you want to turn off the T C before you run your Vette through the gears. Having the T C system shut your car down is not a pleasant experience. It never happened to me until after I finished with my mods. Subsequent to the modifications, I have made the mistake of forgetting to disengage the T C three times and I have been shut down each and every time. Also, when dyno tuning any Vette, regardless of mods, the T C and Active handling should be disengaged. This is accomplised by pushing down on the console button and holding for 10 seconds.

Here you go:

***1 push of the button -
TC off/AH on

***2 pushes of the button - Competitive driving mode
TC off/AH on, but not as intrusive

***Push button and hold for 10 seconds -
TC off/AH off

TC = Traction control
AH = Active handling

On the street I usually run traction control and AH on, but at the track I go with both TC and AH off.

In warmer summer weather with hotter and stickier streets, you can get away with turning TC off or competitive driving mode.

In the winter, I always leave TC and AH on as the back end likes to kick out with less traction available.

Not to mention, it only costs you about 1/10 in the 1/4 to leave everything on, so for quick light to light blasts, leaving it all on is very consistent.
