I know there have been a zillion posts regarding CAGS installation, etc., but I haven't seen this problem. After having the eliminator in my C5 with no problem, I had the dealer install one (that I provided from Mid-America) in my new C6 a year ago. No problems for a few months, then the "check engine" light came on. I had the error codes checked at a different dealer and they found that part of the eliminator was shorted out. Had another from MA installed by my primary dealer a couple of months later, no problems for a while, then the engine light comes on again. Today, the shop tells me that I can remove the eliminator and all will be cool or I can leave it in and the engine light will stay on (meaning that I will never know if a real problem develops). I think he's full of bull - the thing should work without lighting up the engine light. I can't stand the CAGS thing choosing my gears (and please don't tell me to just do burnouts at every traffic light).
What you need is a resistor of about 2200 ohms between the two pins in the connector that plugs into your transmission CAGS connector. Go to the Radio Shack, buy the resistors (they are something like 4 or 5 for 99 cents), crawl under the car and disconnect the connector from the transmission or your installed eliminator and insert one of the 2200 ohm resistors into the female pins of the connector that goes to the transmission CAGS connector (it is clearly marked with a tag). Tape it up with electrical tape and tie the cable up to something with a tie wrap. All this should take you about 2 minutes not counting time to jack up the car.

this was the best 99 cents i ever spent at radio shack
it does sounds like your mid america cags shorted out again, assuming you are getting the same code. yes, using the 2200 ohm resistors, buy a pack and you do 4 of your buddies c6, just tape it up real good. good luck.
