HUD looks faulty when looking down through windshield
I have a new 2006 coupe with HUD. When looking through the windshield at the HUD there appears to be one white spot and a rainbow effect across the whole bottom which reflects onto the windshield. The HUD works fine and you can really not notice these things unless looking down into the HUD from outside. I have looked at other C6's and they do not show this. The question I have is do I trust the dealer to rip apart my dash for this? They contacted GM and were told to replace it. I am really apprehensive letting them tear apart my dash to fix this. Would you let them go at it?
Another owner posted pictures of his dash removed. MAN, what a mess and who knows if was ever put back correctly with NO rattles, etc. They even managed to damage the seats and one door panel if I remember correctly.
The windshield has special reflectivity engineered to ensure the best view of the reflected HUD from inside the car. Most likely you are looking through this coating or layer the wrong way and seeing artifacts as a result.
most of the people who work in the dealerships are morons (not all of them of course)
but you asked for opinions so here it is (if its not broken, dont fix it)
you drive on the inside of the car not the outside.
how about this .
just gather up all the warrenty issues on the car and give it to the dealership when you are around 35999 miles.
thats what im going to do. (and them sell it and get a blue devil and chop off the top) blue devil targa baby.
