Can someone educate me on the situations (if any) where an Evo would beat out a C6 Vette on the race track (drag/course/etc)? Someone I know is flaunting his mitsubishi a little....
A stock one, I don't know. Saw an EVO and a Subaru STI on a road course this past weekend and while neither was stock, they were very quick and handled very well.
The problem is that NOTHING is stock anymore. It's hard to tell, there are alot of sleepers out there, evos, older DSM's, sti's, lightnings, cobras....I just expect that every single one of them will be modified and just try to make sure I'm more modded than they are.

Stock for stock you will have almost every advantage over him except out the hole. Even if you have a great launch and he doesn't have that great a launch he still has AWD and he probably can't mess it up THAT BAD. I know performance wise your car is very close to mine "03 Z06" and I know when I race my friends EVO he jumps out the hole on me but by the time were up to about 50mph I walk by him pretty easily. If you race him from a roll you should have absolutely no problem with them. My friends car is getting some upgrades but little does he know my Z will soon be going to ECS for some STS twin turbos Make no mistake though, the EVO's ARE NOT RICERS!!! Do not get them confused with alot of the all show no go imports out there or you could easily be staring at tailights.
Interesting point. In practice, I would think that the HP/TQ has to be evenly distributed between the front & rear wheels. I've never seen a dyno setup for AWD or 4WD, so don't see how you could measure it.
If the AWD car can be switched to either FWD or RWD, then you could measure it on a dyno, but the numbers should be higher than in AWD --- more parasitic power losses from the drivetrain in AWD.
I've owned both cars and it would be a very close race... An Evo with the right setup will be very tough for a C6 to beat.... I prefer the C6, but the Evo can power out of the turns like no other with the AWD...

4 wheel dyno is just like 2 dyno's right next to each other, one for the front, one for the rear. Most AWD cars vary the power distribution based on driving conditions. Usually they put down no less than 10-20% of their output at one end. You can't just turn off the AWD feature and must use a 4 wheel dyno. yell03 typed rwhp, but I'm sure he meant awhp.
I've owned an EVO and the C6 will beat it for pure power but I'm sure I could drive an EVO faster on a curvy road. The EVO is the greatest car ever made for the pure driving experience. It's steering feel is incredible and makes the Corvette feel like a truck.
Recently Road & Track compared an EVO to a Caymen. The Porsche had better stats in every category - lateral G, acceleration, braking. The EVO beat it on a road course. It makes you feel like you just doubled your driving talent. It's an astonishing car to drive. I've had an STI too and it had more power than the EVO but it didn't give you the invincible feeling you get from the EVO.

Yes, there are AWD dynos, and no the power is not always the same front to back.
I just bought an 06 EVO 9 MR. I raced my friend's C6 that had exhaust, intake and headers and got my *** handed to me from 30-120. Out of the hole the C6 had no chance. Now I have put cams, intake, full 3" turbo back exhaust, no cat, boost controller, SAFC (Fuel controller), ECU flash and KW Variant 3 coilovers. I ran my friend again at LACR and ran a 12.6 @ 111 on 91pump. He ran a 13.2 @???. Vettes have very good top end and he will probably still beat me from 80-160. Through the canyons I have never had or seen any car including vettes hang with the EVO. All EVO owners bow down to Vettes so even though some Evo's are faster they still like yours better!
I don't know what in those cars but an STI blew by my C6 like I was in a Yugo. The EVO ans STI are incrediably, SUPER Fast.
My vette is such a rocketship that I fail to see how anything could pass it. I don't even know why they make mods for it. I'm pretty sure I could outrun John force with this car on runflats. It can never be beat, no car will ever be as great, my ***** is bigger because I have a corvette, I respect no one elses vehicles because I'm a cocky guy who has a fiberglass chevrolet, blah blah blah, that's all I heard....
