20 years ago, I owned a 1967 SS396 Camaro, and I LOVED the DEEP rumble from the big-block V8. At idle, that old 396 sounded intoxicating, as the RMPs climbed, it still sounded deep, and mean! Do the B&B Bullets have the "Big-Block" sound?

DRONE = THROATY & DEEP

That is exactly the sound I'm going for too. I almost bought a '69 camaro with a big block instead of my C6. I'm more satisfied with the vette because it can be driven daily, handles incredibly well AND has the kind of power of the old muscle cars. The only thing my C6 needs is to SOUND like that '69 Camaro BB! I am putting on Bullets (no headers -yet) this weekend. I hope it rumbles like a big block! When I was a boy my dad had a couple of 69's and one '68 Camaro. Those were awesome cars and I caught the bug of loving those big blocks!

You are going to love your C6 when you get it!

A loud exhaust and drone are two different things. Drone is a harmonic sound that vibrates everything in the car including your ear drums. I think you guys just like a nice exhaust system sound, not drone.

I've got a Hurst/Olds with a built high compression big cammed 455, 3" pipes and Flowmaster mufflers. I've also got a 442 with standard "turbo" mufflers and a relatively small cam.

Neither my head/cam C5 with headers, hf cats and Borla Stingers, nor my C6 with the 14336 Magnaflows sound anywhere near as good as my muscle cars. Not even close. The LS1/6/2 firing order just doesn't sound good to me for some reason. Oldsmobile big blocks are my favorite (obviously) but it's hard to beat a 289 Ford in a first gen Mustang, and Mustangs still sound good today. I'd be happier if my C6 sounded as good as a new Mustang.

The C5 with Stingers sounded deep, mean, and really loud. It was great before the headers, but headers increased the volume 100%. Probably too loud, but I loved it. The C6 with Magnaflows is WAY too quiet, but I'm hoping my American Racing headers will make it louder (if they ever arrive, they've been on order for 2 months). If not I'm getting rid of them and was thinking about the Flowmasters. I for one can't stand the tinny raspy sound of the Corsas.

Yessir, I know I'm going to love that C6 when I finally get it! The wait is killing me ...but I have to be patient ....this time next year: VVVrrrrrOOOOOOMMM! I'll have my C6!

This is TOO COOL! Another fellow BIGBLOCK V8 brother! Joe_G, Those Ol' 1960's Oldsmobiles were AWESOME! You don't have to tell me about them, my best friend (in High School) had a 1969 442, my Mom had a 1970 455 Rocket V8 Cutlass. One night, I snuck "Mom's Car" out of the garage to "Cruise the Ave" ...back when Cruising the BLVD, with other car buffs was still legal. A guy pulls up next to me in his trashed 1974 Camaro and said, "Hey, looks like your in Mommy's Car, hahaha!" I replied, "As a matter of fact, I am in my Mom's car, AND this Momma's Car will Kick your *** all over the street!" ...needless to say, the clown in the trashed Camaro, couldn't let that challege pass. The light turns green, we both hammer the gas ....and right off the line I dust his *** and continue to pull away from that camaro for 3 blocks, then I backed off. That guy pulls up next to me again and says, "What the hell do you have in that thing? I replied, "just a bone stock 455 Olds big block."

It didn't occur to me tonight until I read your post, The LS1/6/2 firing order ...is it different than the Gen I & II chevy small block?!? If so, that would explain why the C5 & C6 sound higher pitched. Based on your post, sounds like, all I would have to do is replace the exhaust with B&B Bullets ...but stay away from getting headers. I want the Big Block rumble ....but I only want the engine (in the C6) to get really loud only when I hammer the pedal to the floor.

Good story on the Olds! I've read the reason our engines sound kind of wimpy is due to the firing order is different that most others. I know my WS6 Trans Am sounded better than the Vette with Borla exhaust and neither sound as good as a Mustang to me. Of course our power makes up for lack of good sounds.

I like rumble at idle and roar at WOT too. I can say, don't get the 14336 Magnaflows if that's what you want. There is some rumble at idle, but very quiet at WOT. I can hear the engine more than the exhaust. Borla Stingers are much better, louder at idle, sounds like a race car at WOT. I would guess the bullets would be the same but probably louder all around.

Both Borla Stingers and Magnaflow 14336 have drone at 1500-1800. It can boom in the car - about there it gets really loud then quiet again as you rev past it. It never bothered me but I don't listen to the radio in my cars and I can drive around it with a 6 speed but it's there.

My prediction is that more than half of the Bullet users will end up selling these as used on the forum. The bullets are an awesome sounding exhaust all the way from start up when they sound like a dragon awakening throught the RPM band but it does get to be annoying even for those of us who seek to stand apart from the tamer cat back systems that most people use. I went through 6 exhausts on my C5 including the bullets until I settled on the borla stinger (sport). I will not make the same mistake with the C6 and will ensure that I listen to cars with headers (maybe no cats) before making a decision to buy any exhaust.

I heard the Stingers on a c5 z06, sounded awesome, like a mustang on steroids, deep and mean. I wonder if they would sound the same on the c6?

I put 200 miles on the car yesterday, still love the sound! Some of you posted that you think we like the sound of a loud exhaust(not drone), I know what drone is and I actually enjoy it!

The Borla Stingers do sound great outside the car and at WOT. But the drone inside the car is way out of control. It was vibrating panels in the car. I sold them and i have the Borla Touring. They are ok, but nothing compared to the Stingers. I will be adding headers with high flow cats and that will wake up the Borla Touring system. Plus with that set up i will still have no drone. Here is a clip of my Borla Stingers before i took them off.

They sound different than the ones I heard on the z06. I wonder if its b/c of the x-pipe?

Hey Joe, I almost forgot, when I replied to your post last night ....installing a new bump-stick with a little more duration and tighter lope seperation angle would certainly help give the C6 a more rumbly idle ...reminiscent to the Big Block!!

Italian - From your video, the Borla Stingers sound awesome - real exotic. Too bad they had so mcuh drone. Are the Borla Touring one to two notches lower in tone - similar sound?

Cajun

I'm currently rockin headers, off road x, and stingers....I like it.

I had a chance at a free bullet catback, and was gonna see what that sounded like, but my buddy scooped it up before I could grab it.

I will say that before the headers and xpipe the borlas BARELY droned and were by far the best sounding mufflers I'd heard on a vette by a LONG SHOT.

I have never done crystal meth either but I have read enough, and heard enough about it to know that I don't want to try it.

I don't want to damage my hearing. And when a forum member here tells us that his ears actually hurt and he suffered hearing temporary loss after having them on his car, thats good enough for me.

A couple of forum members here whose opinions I trust, the latest AFVETTE, have taken them off after only a few days of installing them.

Their reports are believable enough for me.
