Have the battery and charging system checked. As these '05's start to age, more 'normal' problems are sure to appear.
Get a prioritystart module if you're still worried.

Definitely have the battery checked.

Mine turned out to be a bad Delco battery. Original battery lasted less than 2 years. Had it tested and it tested bad. Replaced it with an Optima Yellow Top and no problems since.

I got bit by the DBS yesterday as well. Mine is a 2005 Coupe p/u @ NCM on Oct 7, 2004 build date 09/27/04. This is the 4th DBS I have had since new. Ordered Priority Start today. It has been since April 2005 since my last DBS. Corvette was shut properly, in reverse, parking brake set and steering column lock was engaged and got the horn beep and lights flash on exit as normal.

My last was around March '05, and I never did put in a prioritystart. Maybe I'm due...

I took my Priority Start out and it probably won't be going back in.

Can't and never really could find a decent place to strap it to the battery. And with the Optima it is more difficult yet.

The positive terminal from the Priority Start is a little too close to the negative terminal of the battery for my peace of mind. Just as it was with the original battery. This could be an issue in an accident.

BTW, were all of these 4 instances with the same battery?

No DBS since Feb/05, although the spouse and I have been having FOB wars lately. The Number 2 FOB is trying to overrule the Number 1 FOB and has made for some interesting door unlocks, startups, and shutdowns. Today, after a mother-law visit trip, the car did not want to shut down and the memory settings went somewhere south. Once Number 2 was out of range, everything worked correctly. The only thing we can figure is that when Number two is in her purse something may be pressing a button causing some kind of interference

It's a little gizmo that attaches to the battery and disconnects it at some predetermined lower voltage, so that the battery does not totally discharge.
Do a search here on the forum or http://www.prioritystart.com/

Yes. The BCM, Steering Column lock module and battery were changed. The tech guy advises he had spoken to other GM mechanics who are reporting the BCM to be the fix on 05's with habitual DBS problems. I am 2 weeks without an event and no battery tender on the car. I am cautiously optimistic.

Good luck.
A lot of us, me included have gone months between a DBS event. We all know its the car, NOT US, now hopefully GM will find a fix before the wareinity runs out.
You think we are more or less on our own now, wait till the car is out of their "FREE FIX" time.

As much as I like driving this car it will be long gone before the warranty is up. With these elctronics they will simply be too expensive to fix. Mine is now in for the fuel sender unit fix. When they took out the housing it fell apart. Now waiting for the whole unit to come from Bowling Green. Comes with the fuel pump and sender unit. Glad I'm not paying for it!!

Capevettes;
Much thanks for your response-my 05' MN6 goes in again friday to be checked after my 4th episode of DBS. My question for you-can I assume your GM mechanic called GM to suggest this fix(BCM Steering Lock Module) & they (GM) approved?
Thanks Again.

Yes, That is my understanding. If your tech people have any questions have them contact my dealer and speak with Dave, the Service manager or Joe the technician. Harbor Chevrolet Falmouth, Ma. 508-548-4400. They have been excellent to deal with. Good luck with yours.

Capevettes;
Thank much for the info-you've been very helpful. My GM mechanic(great with Corvettes, & a personal friend), will be taking the car himself to the dealership on friday. Hope it works out-I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks Again-Jerry
