Default Tire pressure

I pulled my C6 Coupe out of the garage, got on the freeway and had an opprtunity to get on it. After a few seconds, it felt like I had a flat on the front. Needless to say, I got off it and slowed down really fast. I checked my air pressure and had 29 rf and 30 lf. My vette had been in the gargae for about two weeks.

I notice that my tires are always about 29 to 30 lbs when I start driving and then build up to 32 lbs. Is this normal?

Good question, the cold tire pressure should be 30psi. (????)

Normal behavior.

Takes a bit of fiddling to get all the tire pressure sensors to agree precisely.

Consider too that (1) the display rounds to the nearest whole number and (2) psi varies with temperature, including effect of direct sunlight. So the tires on the shady side of the car can show a lower psi.

I'd check them once in awhile with a good tire pressure gauge. Should read 30 lbs cold. Mine will get up to 34 lbs on a warm day after 25-30 miles of driving. Usually run about 32-33 lbs on an average day.

Between the DIC display and the tire guage I use there is a two pound difference. The DIC pressures are 2 lbs. lower.

OLM yes we are suppose to wait for it to tell us or at least change oil and filter once a year.

Gas station meters are checked (and sealed) for accuracy by the County. Tire pressure guages are checked (and sealed) by ???

The DIC is quite accurate (for what it is.)

3-4 PSI increase once the tires get hot (driving) is normal.

OM sez 30 psi cold.

But you'll get 1 psi for every 10 deg of air temp. e.g. set to 30 psi @ 60 deg F = 31 psi @ 70 deg F

Best overall pressure for the Supercars is supposed to be 33-34#. If you have 30 (factory recommended) cold and run them reasonably well you come up to that range quickly. I like to keep it 31-32 cold, better wear. I've found a variability of 1 # with the TPMS when I show them all equal with a digital gauge, so .5 round up makes sense. As long as it's =< 1 psi, I'm happy.

Also, I have 3 tire gauges and they give me 3 different readings.
I assume the DIC is accurate.

Yep, normal. 30 lbs cold, then pressure readings from the DIC will vary anywhere from 32-35, depending on how fast you are running, how hot it is, etc. Remember that these wide tires tend to track in grooves, etc. on the road, so occasionally you will feel as if you've got a flat on certain road surfaces, until you get used to it.
