Default Suggestions on Performance.

whats up everyone. being new to this forum i wanted to get some feedback on the performance i might want to be doing on a C6. i pick up the C6 in a week but want to be ready with the performance once it gets here. to begin with, i've been looking into the SLP headers and exhaust. they look pretty sweet and sound great. with that i want to add the SLP BLackwing Cold air Intake. i also want to add the SLP underdrive Pulley. with all this im going to get the skip-shift eliminator as well. with the transmission, i dont think it would be neccessary to upgrade anything yet untill i add much more horsepower (FI) . but suggestions would be great. what i would like to know is what else should i add that would make a difference to my C6? such as the 180 degree thermostat, or the aluminum radiator? i would also like to get a programmer for the car. which 1? i dont know. what im trying to do is add all the posible bolt-ons before i get into any forced induction. (such as the procharger). any suggestions i would really appreciate it!! let me know what you think. if its a good start or am i starting the wrong way.

There are many opinions about the relative merits of headers and exhaust systems, and literally dozens of threads. SLP headers are very seldom mentioned as a favorite on this forum. Current favorites seem to be LG, Kooks, American Racing, Dynatec, and Melrose. If forced induction is in your future, I'd go with a 1-7/8" model, which you can get from either Kooks or American. For exhaust, some favor bullets (loud), Magnaflow, Corsa, or Borla. GM also makes two good optional exhausts, and there is a new Zoomer system that sounds promising.

A 160 or 180 thermostat will help your cooling, but you will need to program your fans to take advantage. Unless you are planning to do a lot of extreme duty driving, you do not need to upgrade the radiator.

Don't hear much discussion here about underdrive pulleys, but they are proven to deliver an 8-10 HP gain. I have used them on a previous LS1 to good effect. Might be careful if you plan a monster big stereo system with multiple amps though. Wouldn't want your headlights going out when you crank up the bass!

Hitman has "hit" the nail right on the head There are lots of options out there. If you were coming to me, this is the package I would suggest to you for now to increase the power as much as possible without going internal on the motor yet, or adding the Procharger.

American Racing 1 7/8 Headers
American Racing 3" X pipe w/ high flow cats
Magnaflow Cat-Back exhaust
Callaway "Honker" cold air intake
ASP Underdrive Pulley
160* Thermostat
Port the throttle body
Dyno Tune (skip the hand held programmers)

This package will wake it up a lot from stock, and give you a good baseline package that will work with no matter what you decide to do to the car in the future...

nice package idea but not many would go with the crank pulley unless already doing a cam because of the labor.

sounds good. for a while i've been hearing about the SLP performance on C5's and stuff. figured it'd be a nice set to go with the C6. i have a friend with the kooks headers and the corsa exhaust. Sounds sweet, just dont like to copy others. i'd like to get my moneys worth, i've been hearing lately that the corsa exhaust hasnt been making much gains compared to others. now what about programmers? does anyone recommend any? i am going to tune the car after all the bolt-ons are installed. any other suggestions will be great. Thanks

One other thing nobody mentioned. You should get a tune with the mods you mentioned, and the tune will take the 1-4 skipshift out, so don't pop $30 for the plug in module...just wait for the tune!

You can certainly go that way, but a custom dyno tune from a forum tuner (or other good tuner near you) is the way to go for max results, unless you are versed in HP Tuners or LS2Edit and have access to a dyno yourself.

Maybe someone with a handheld tuner will chime in.

BB Headers
BB X-Pipe
BB Bullet Exhaust
180 Thermostat
Port the Throttle Body( I hear you can just purchase it) If someone can send me the Link that'd be great.
Tune
Skip-Shift Eliminator

-still undecided on the Intake= suggestions would be great!!
-and for the pulleys im hearing i shouldnt do them c/ there causing problems. feedback on that would be great!! and if its worth doing, which one should i go with? SLP OR ASP?

Any other suggestions will be great!!
