Default Sensor mounts

Can anyone lead me to the answer of mounting air pressure sensors in aftermarket wheels, namely Asanti wheels? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Whod

Here's a picture of a sensor (this is an old style that was never designed to be mounted in the valve stem hole) that is being "banded" or "strapped" inside the wheel with a large hose clamp:

Forum member C6Dude "banded" his sensors in his aftermarket wheels. Most people use a long metal hose (or duct) clamp, but C6Dude used a long tie wrap and some glue. It is said that the valve stem is part of the antenna for the sensor, so you shouldn't cut it off - but many people have cut off the valve stem without any problems. You should probably leave it on if the sensor will mount without taking it off. If they are banded in the wheel they are usually mounted 180 degrees opposite from the valve stem. You need to know where they are so you can excite them with a TPM Tool.

Take a look at this thread and you'll see a picture of C6Dude's banded sensor (he also epoxied them to the wheel):

If you're interested in any more info on sensors, here are a cople other threads:
