Default Are Headers the Answer to the A6 Drone Problem??

To make the exhaust sound more agressive on my A6 transmission car without getting drone, would it be better to go with headers and stock exhaust instead of aftermarket exhaust.

How much sound difference do headers only make?

Do they void the warranty or cause any possible problems?

With headers and stock exhaust on an A6 is there any drone?

Not to much with stock mufflers.

No probably no drone with stock mufflers and headers.

Warranty depends on your dealer.

I run LG pros, xpipe cats to the original corsa sports with no resonators. Mild drone at 1600 rpms, not bad. Great sound at WOT.

Headers, HF cats, connected to stock exhaust, no drone. Bolt-ons should not affect warranty, talk to the service manager where you want to take the car. If he indicates it may be a problem, find a new dealer!

Yes it would IMO.
Long tube headers with stock cat back = 25+ rear wheel horsepower gain
Cat back only = almost no horsepower gain in most cases

A noticeable amount for sure but not too loud, a nice sound from the few I've heard.

I'm looking for a better sound at idle and low speed as well as WOT. It sounds like (no pun intended) that I'd need to go with headers AND some sort of aftermarket exhaust...not just the headers...to acheive that.

Am I on the right track??

I would not go with the corsa sports then. At idle they are a little louder than stock. Corsa's really scream at WOT.

Drone is so subjective. You almost have to listen to the different systems yourself.

I'm running Borla Tourings with headers, heads and cam....no drone, and the sound is much deeper and muscle car-like than the Corsa Sports it replaced. AND they weigh 25lbs less. Something you can feel.

Exhaust are like women, we all have different opinions on what is "good". So get what sounds "good" to you because you may not like my sound. You could not give me a set of 'bullets", but others love the sound. I have a MagnaFlow and the "Bullet" guys probably hate them, so get what sound good to you.

The serval A6s I drove did not seam to have any drone. Put on an aftermarket system and you WILL have drone, some louder the others.

Corsa makes great exhust systems, but not much louder the stock, even at WOT. Louder IN the car, but not to ppl on the street when you pass by.
