DTE Rear End Brace
My buddy installed the brace and developed a racket of noise in the rear end. After many, many different repairs to rear end, brakes, bearings, fluid change the noise persisted, a knocking, grining sound that grew worse after 40 miles.
Finally, he removed the brace and the noise never returned.
He still does not know how the brace could have caused the noise.
In my humble opinion, it seems that the extra stiffness was too much for the rear end and did not allow enough rear travel.

However, if the differential strut rods are torqued too tight, you will have problems and our clear instructions warn of this, provide detailed adjustment procedures, etc. so this doesn't happen. We actually had folks call here and tell us they tightened the rods further than what we instruct, because they think that "some is good, so more must be better". Those folks who go out on their own like that or that don't follow our instructions WILL have problems...we can assure you.
We don't know if that's the case with your friend, but some or all of what was described above certainly may be a possibility.
