I had LG headers installed on my car and it runs great. Recently the check engine light came on, which I expected would happen sooner or later. I had planned to go up to houston to have my car tuned and take care of that problem this weekend. However, I just called them up and they say their tuner will be out until next week. I can wait, but will it do the car any harm to keep running it daily as is? What about taking the car to the track this weekend, will that harm anything?
Impossible to know for sure without knowing what code(s) it has thrown. Can you get in some where they can pull the codes for you (you need a OBDII reader to do so).
Personally if it was my car I would likely run it like normal....but what I do I am fully responsible for...I would not give the same advice to anybody else in case it is more serious.

My experience is there are 57,296 reasons the CEL will illuminate, and a vast majority of these are NO BIG DEAL (e.g., "small leak detected in intake system," or "gas cap improperly installed" etc. etc.). If the car appears to be running okay, you are probably okay (I'm not sure I would take it to the track, but that's another story). If you really want confirmation of whether or not you need this fixed ASAP, I suggest you pony up $70 for the OBDII code reader available from Walmart or other places. It will read your codes, and then you can reset the light (or tighten something up) if the detected codes indicate that you have no major problems. Walmart sells two different readers: you want the cheaper of the two (Equus 3030 Innova Diagnostic Code Scanner for OBDII [Post-1996] Vehicles) as it is also CAN-enabled. I have one for my 05 C6 and it works just fine. HTH.
Get a reader. These cars are like giant PCs. You will need a reader, get a good one and you may also use it for data logging while driving. Mine will take spot reads but I understand that some now read data streams
Cool I didnt know they had those things at wal-mart. Is there anyplace I can check what the code means once I get it? And, where is the plug for that located? Do I have to remove the knee bolster?

You don't have to remove the panel - the connector is just towards the engine, in front of the panel, directly under the steering column. The reader comes with a chart of the more common OBD-II codes. You likely have a code to do with the rear 02 sensors - they don't heat up quickly enough when you put headers on, and throw a code. Rear 02's are usually mapped out in a tune anyway (ignored), but still need to be connected or you throw a CEL constantly...
Auto Zone and others let you use a scanner to diagnose the code for free. I bought an Innova 3110. If you buy one do some research as there are many good ones but some do different things that might be important to you.
As stated earlier Walmart carries the Innova brand reader that does work on the C6. The 3100 allows you to store the vehicle scan and upload to your PC via the OBD2 Tech Link program that comes with the unit. You also get an electronic version of the trouble codes as well as written version o the owners manual. Additionally you can create and print reports and go online for program updates for the reader. These units are about $100.00.
Good advice....I need a scanner myself. A few weeks after installing the LPE 403, LGM headers, etc. I get a "Service Electrical System" message in the DIC (about every other day). Everything runs fine. I think it's a phantom from the install and edit but actually knowing the code(s) would help. I didn't like the scanner at Checker Auto so I'll try WalMart. Thanks for the direction!

Wayno, my Innova 3110 has a PC interface that allows me to pull codes and e-mail them to 21CMC. A very useful feature if you are not close to your tuner.
Your car is throwing the code for a lean condition as everyone else who got the light for not tuning in the free air flow. This is lean at closed loop and in turn very rich on wide open throttle. Steady lights are for emmissions (O2's in this case) and a blinking light is for misfires.
You can reset the light by disconnecting the battery (negative) for a minute or so. It will re-appear from time to time since your long term fuel trends are running near +24% which is the car's limit for being able to run stoic. It then dumps 24% additional fuel at WOT since it locks positve. Get it tuned.
