is 23lbs of oil pressure after warm up at idle ok? my car has 7k on the milage has not yet had an oil change. meter shows 25% life still. i ask this cuase i have always heard a rattle from the engine like a bearing. and when new it would hold 40lbs of pressure. what does chevy say is acceptable? when i brought up the noise they said it was pinging. i called b.s. but have no facts. also have electrical problem they could not reproduce even thou i still have them. i was lucky enough to show formen one day and he has now witnessed it. the roof make crackle noises. which was not there when i first bought it or for the first 4k miles. and they couldnt get the ashtray to fall open. so it was like i imagined all this. but with forman witnessing and engine dropping oil pressure i think i have something to stand on. there is no way i want a 50k p.o.s. that the wife wont even drive. so after this visit i think i should lawyer up for lemon law. if they say it couldnt be reproduced. need info, thoughts and input. this will be the 2nd time dropping it off for same problems.
The LS2 oil pump is a low pressure, high volumn pump. 28 pounds at operating temp at idle is ok and anything over 40-ish at speed is normal. It took me a long time to get use to these kinds of oil pressures, and, I'll never get use to 240 degree coolant temps. That's the reason there is a Ron Davis radiator and a Meziere pump sitting in the garage, awaiting the wrenches!

I have owned probably over 25 Gm vehicles and currently own 9. From my recollection they have all had the same behavior. Low pressure at idle. Once you give the least amount of throttle the pressure increases a lot.
I'd make sure the dealership checks the roof panel for delamination....stress noises coming from the roof panel is a potential symptom.
Does the engine "pinging" diminish as the engine warms up? Do you always run high octane gas?
Hopefully there aren't any serious problems but I'd keep after the dealership if the symptoms persist. It sounds like you're still a long way off from any type of a claim under the 'Lemon Law' statutes.

Hey Dennis
I'll bet that 3800 stall speed converter makes your auto temps much hotter than mine even with the new hyden cooler Mine usually runs somewhere around 160. On our long hot summer trips to Florida in traffic the temps get up to 200

Tommy when it was hot out this summer 95 t0 97 it ran 207 to Delaware and back without a cooler dealer screwed my trans on a tsb. new trans and new radiator and cooler now it runs 245 and they act like thats fine.
Normal and Normal. For the first one at 23, if your DIC says 25% you've got a lot of miles on that oil. It's going to be thinned out with a lot of condensates and combustion by-products. Do an oil change, I'll bet it looks like black water coming out. Fresh oil will give you a couple more psi.
Mine never goes below 30-35 psi, and runs about 40-43 warmed up at highway speeds. I know the L-98 was normal at 6 psi at idle, and believe the LS1 was ok down to about 12-15. I don't think you have a problem until you break below 20, hot at idle.

207 degrees in the summer heat isn't terrible. But 245 with a cooler, that is another story. I guess you will be getting another new trans soon. You might as well check out Level 10, GER or one of the other performance trans shops. Running 11 second quarter mile times and running 245 degrees with the extra cooler.......... your stock unit will be toast.
I can think of several issues that may cause high temps but I am sure the installer of your 3800 stall speed converter knew what he was doing. They will run hotter than normal but usually a large extra cooler will enable the temps to go back to stock levels. Good luck
